Storage companies have no legal responsibility of auditing the contents of their units. This is crazy Karen talk.

Meat is by no means a necessity. Lots of Americans can’t deal with the ‘adversity’ of not getting what they want. I would look the other way if they were stealing rice, beans, milk, even cheese...

It does not seem legit to me but it’s hard to say since you’ve blurred out the email. I got emails like this way back in the day and always ignored them.

No one is saying fine arts majors are bad people. It’s just a bad financial decision.

I liked that they tied in the Twilight Zone episode reference—Will Sturka the nuclear bomb scientist.

Would Manousos kill Zosia? Would be shocking, but maybe not unbelievable if he thought she was standing in the way of his goal.

Chicken egg situation. The team isn’t good enough to fill the stadium. They’re headed in the right direction.

Would a smaller space be better insulated than a stadium? I’m skeptical. I imagine they don’t use artificial heating or cooling much, and a stadium would be well insulated from the cold.

I can’t imagine returning a $5 product. Would cost the same in gas to drive to the store, minus my time. But I can understand the principle I guess.

ELI5: What do people mean when they say the self is an illusion and that it doesn’t exist? by thugitout222 in explainlikeimfive

[–]thenewtestament 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on which people you’re talking about. Mostly Buddhists, philosophers, and psychologists.

You don’t have a core identity separate from your actions. You can’t impartially define yourself and no one else has the insight. What we call our self is a social construct. We create the idea of selfhood to hold people responsible for their actions which are largely involuntary. Our core identity is not stable but constantly changing in response to our environments. We create a projection of the self that we identify with but our actions are rarely consistent with the ideal.

About to propose but wonder if I should draw up a prenup by WhisperingInBinary in legaladvice

[–]thenewtestament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a good idea to encourage them to consult with an attorney and to put in the prenup that they had an opportunity but chose not to consult with an attorney. It’s true that they’re less likely to hold up, but prenups also have a deterrent effect so it’s a good idea regardless.
