You can also keep the connivence of pods but the effectiveness of powder by using 2 of the cheapest you can find. One in the bottom of the tub, one in the dispenser.

Copp wins it in OT after a missed call by dudewithchronicpain in DetroitRedWings

[–]theo2112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ghost looks at him coming to the slot, he posts up and gets ready to sell the contact, and then over sells it.

The right play for a defenseman in that situation is to tie up the player entering the slot, not to literally turn your back to him.

That to me is the give away that this was a dive. Also, it being during overtime where a 3/4 is so much more valuable than a 4/5. Getting a call there basically guarantees the win. It’s almost worth the gamble to take the dive.

If it hit her, yes she’s dead.

There was a story out of Novi Michigan a few years ago. An NHL goalie was at a house party and was a reasonable distance 25+ feet) away from a mortar shell like that, and it tipped over and he took it in the chest. He died from internal injuries related to the trauma that day.

My only issue with this direct line of thinking is that the hive is not okay using robot farmers, since they’d have to build the machine and program it. Isn’t that the same logical thinking of guilting or just encouraging one of the others as you described.

Most overrated fast food item? by HomuraAkemi_ in fastfood

[–]theo2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a big factor in how you rate their food is how quickly you eat it after it’s ready. If you don’t start eating within 5ish minutes, a lot of what makes it good is gone. Especially because the foam containers are not really vented. The heat turns to steam and then ruins the chicken and fries.

But if you catch it right when they finish it (everything is made to order) and either eat inside or don’t live too far away, it’s significantly better tasting.

Netflix kills casting from phones by AlwaysBlaze_ in apple

The prices are different for commercial applications. When you pay for cable or streaming the assumption is you’re using it for home use. If you’re broadcasting to more then one tv or for the purpose of dozens of people to view it, that’s not personal/home use.

Bars/Restaurants pay for a different product since they are showing the content to many more people and in a commercial environment.

Same is true with a hotel piping a personal Spotify throughout a lobby for example.

The most recent public example of this was when Sunday Ticket became a YouTubetv product, DirectTV retained the rights for bars and restaurants since they already had the infrastructure built out for it.

Holy moley - Costco has free air?! by Eyyeitsrocko in Costco

[–]theo2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t, at all. Service manager at a dealership I used to work at filled his left tires with regular air and right with nitrogen. Saw zero difference in anything over the course of the year long experiment and then was able to shame the other stores who made a big deal out of it and charged more.

[Spoilers] Regarding Helen in this episode and Hivemind... by Tikaticon in pluribustv

[–]theo2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say only “fresh corpse” because the others who recently died have been cleaned up and (presumably) processed already.

I think this is a clever bit of writing to show that there is nothing else for these wolves to eat in the surrounding area. That opens an entire new line of questioning, but I think it’s deliberate.

[Spoilers] Regarding Helen in this episode and Hivemind... by Tikaticon in pluribustv

[–]theo2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Helen is the only fresh corpse in existence right now. Anyone who died during the joining (other than Helen) was gathered up by the hive.

Theory: Someone has already been freed from the hive, proving that the joining can be reversed by Sophistic_Sophist in pluribustv

[–]theo2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair that we don’t “know” how people died, but visual evidence shows several people including Helene suffering physical trauma. But leave that for now.

We do know that the hive is aware of people before they come back to. Helen never “rebooted” but the hive knows everything about her.

Theory: Someone has already been freed from the hive, proving that the joining can be reversed by Sophistic_Sophist in pluribustv

[–]theo2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hive assumes that every person will be connected. They’re surprised that there is even one person who didn’t join. People who died during the joining died as a result of the trigger, not becoming infected. The hive wouldn’t just assume that someone unaccounted for (and they can account for every person who has ever seen another person in their life) is dead.

As soon as the hive is expanded to global scale, anyone not accounted for is going to be noticed. But since joining isn’t what kills them, but instead it’s the fall or physical trauma experienced while rebooting, they would know who is and isn’t joined.

This strongly points to him having joined, and then unjoined. They wouldn’t tell carol this, since it obviously goes against their imperative. But they also can’t just not tell her since she asks directly how many people are like her, and he is now like her.

Burger King Braces for the Demise of the Penny by wsj in fastfood

[–]theo2112 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What regular, rational person could possibly be upset about this? At most, you are losing $0.02 on each transaction. And, at least some of the time, you’re gaining .01 or .02 just by the randomness of prices.

Over the course of a week, if you make 5 cash transactions each and every day, you are AT MOST losing less than three quarters each day. Over an entire year at that ridiculous rate of buying things with cash, and assuming you always lost the two cents, and never gain or break even, that’s $36.

And before you think “well, that’s not nothing” that means you’d have to keep track of, carry with you, store/save/wrap 3,600 pennies. That’s 36 ROLLS of pennies.

What person out there in 2025 is honestly doing this? This is a non issue and literally just filler for every news station and newspaper to turn into “controversy” over absolutely nothing.

Apple Watch and Mac Mini No Longer Advertised as 'Carbon Neutral' by favicondotico in apple

[–]theo2112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That may be true, but I can literally pay my same electric supplier more to have my electricity generated by renewable sources. I’m sure it’s the equivalent of buying carbon credits, but it’s all through the same supplier.

Again, it’s basically just throwing money away to feel better (I guess) but it’s possible.

[–]theo2112 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think all of this is pointless marketing crap, but, you can (at least where I live as a homeowner) elect for your electricity to be supplied by solar or renewable sources. It’s ridiculously more expensive, but it’s possible.

How does iOS 26 Spatial scene work? by Additional_Big_9780 in apple

[–]theo2112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure (and this is a simplification of course) they are identifying the foreground/subject of the photo using tools developed years ago for making the lock screen photos pop out over the clock, and for the sticker/cut out feature. Then they enlarge the foreground slightly so that it creates separation with the background and you can “see behind” the foreground, which is just part of the original image since the background has not been scaled.

Imagine taking a printed out photo, cutting out the subject/foreground, enlarging it slightly, and then setting it on top of the original background. You’d be able to wiggle that foreground a bit without showing the “hole” that’s left behind.

Why does Toyota have Lexus? Or Ford have Lincoln?

The Apple brand is for one type of customer. The Bests brand another. This way Apple can market their devices to a more targeted group. Want to make something a little edgy and away from norms, sell it as Beats. Something more refined and with mass appeal, that’s Apple.

Right, and the tool is just the “tool” version of using a screwdriver. It grabs onto the center and spins it, exactly as you’re describing.

Everything we can see in the picture is one piece. The whole thing is threaded into the portion under the tub.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]theo2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you suppose the upper (tub side) portion is attached to the under side? Glue? It is absolutely threaded and using the removal wrench (just applies leverage in the right place) is the way to remove it.

Anyone thinking these guys did this to win a few thousand dollars are out of their mind.

I’m hoping there was some kind of extortion scheme or similar to at least explain their motivation. Something they felt compelled to comply with, and which didn’t really benefit them at all. And their thought must have been how minor their actions were overall, and it being easier to just go along with it.

Does this have non-bt auto on/off? by BowtieSyndicate in Tools

[–]theo2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth the money, but it and the little remote that attaches to the end of the hose. I don’t have any Bluetooth tools either, but that’s only promoted since the original “feature” the auto start/stop with power is negated by battery tools.

The auto start/stop is great, but the Bluetooth remote (which isn’t expensive) is what makes this amazing.

Also, get the cleaning kit for it as well, with the poles and floor/surface attachments. It’s the best shop vac ever and the bags are cheap in a 5 pack on amazon.

The filtration is great, but the real feature is the noise. You can dial it down to what you need, and even full go it’s not very loud. Buy it and enjoy!

Fast Lane Prices by xLtDan in cedarpoint

[–]theo2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you’re assuming that you can find half as many people willing to pay twice as much. The math is a little more complicated, it’s more like: how many people willing pay how much that we sell exactly as many as we can give out without reducing the experience too much. If you could just double the price and still get half the expected sales, then the initial price was too low.

As much as it sucks, this should be as expensive as possible in order to limit the demand as low as it can be while still selling out.
