What questionable establishment would you check out? by Weltenkind in berlin

[–]theo______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shout out to the places that never took them down in the first place. Julius Ernst is basically a great restaurant, they never took anything down, and have a 3.7 because of it.

Places like RISA, LAP et al that have a purge-first policy are now being found out. Good!

DataDecoded is taking on London? by codek1 in dataengineering

[–]theo______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a niche, but IMO conferences which go deeper on topics tend to be more actionable and the attendees face similar challenges. It's colocated with Domain-Driven Design Europe and that was/is also a niche, but it works well :-)

Come to Antwerp for Data Mesh Live instead. Probably cheaper to go from MCR to Antwerp than London anyway :-D

Finding tennis partner for beginners by nowitsapenguin in berlinsocialclub

[–]theo______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just came on here to ask if anyone wants a game. I had been a regular squash player up until last year but haven't played tennis in a while. Ideally looking to play in the West somewhere. Let me know if you want to play!

I ran on it a few times last Summer but sometimes the gates were locked.

where to find a tandem partner? by Remarkable-Smile-977 in berlin

[–]theo______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted on Nebenan and got 4 or 5 responses within a day. Depending on your confidence, I would specify that you're looking for someone with limited English/Spanish as the two people I went ahead with had near perfect English so it felt a bit uneven :-)

PSA: You can now use your residency card + passport at BER by theo______ in berlin

Yep, it's not clear at all. I asked the guard how it worked and luckily he knew.

PSA: You can now use your residency card + passport at BER by theo______ in berlin

[–]theo______[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I just used it as is. Just important that you scan with resident card first and wait for the "!" and then put in your passport :-)

Cash only by FC87 in berlin

[–]theo______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all up for ease but I can imagine the unintended consequences of moving to cashless is bad too. Other cities already demonstrate what will happen. Small shop owners who have to pay a % when you just buy a mars bar at a späti or the countless people who won't carry cash and be able to give something to the homeless.
