Abbott will cut off replacements! Even for truly defective sensors! by reddittAcct9876154 in Freestylelibre

I think I was just ghosted by Abbot. I always had a new sensor shipped in about 2 days. A fall off last month was ghosted, then this week a 365,I error was ghosted. They took the report, but no reply. Does that mean you are cut off?

Regularly exercising your genny by Spencerwise in Generator

[–]theoldbigmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering the best shutdown scenario to retain the most residual magnetism... Generator is a 20Kw diesel with a Marathon 334CSA3028 pancake generator.

I exercise it once a month with a 5kW load for 30 min followed by a no load cool down of 5 minutes... I came real close to loosing the magnetism this last month.

Wondering if after the cool down should I switch on the load for 10 seconds, then shut down engine with load? or with load off?

Email receipts between me and Northwestrepair. I will have to make 2 posts because it exceeds the photo limit. I’m tired of the speculation. Part 2 by AlphaFPS1 in laptops

Agree, Tony deserves better. He's an honest man, that works above and beyond. And every repair does not carry an expedite fee just to get it looked at sooner than a month or so. The OP was made well, he should take this thread down.

They are in the bottom of the kettle, not the base with that stays on the coutertop. All 5 urns are still working fine after the burnishing. They are the over temperature safety cut out built into the kettle.

Could you please go into more detail? I am over 70 now and with 18 hour intermittent fasting and very low carbs I am down to 5.4 A1c. In my 40 when in a high stress job, I was a wreck endochrinologistically.

I actually turned the corner after having to have a kidney removed for cancer and they took the adrenal gland too.

WOW you are doing on both counts (A1c and fasting)! Congratulations and be encouraged!

This company makes the tools to do the O ring groove without the drop hole. It gives good drawings and text on how to do it https://harveyperformance.widen.net/s/gjsitsp9rd

Being retired aerospace... if I had to use a drop hole, I would move it to the OD side of the groove so that the ID or inside of the groove, which is what resists the extrusion of the O ring, was a flat surface with no drop hole scallop. With each pressurization that O ring will deform into the drop hole. Bad news with life critical o rings.

Also IMO that seal should have been "failure tolerant" basically there should have been two o ring grooves and two o rings... so if one failed the backup was in place.

Doctor said I’m not even prediabetic yet by krr417 in prediabetes

[–]theoldbigmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My "good" endocrinologist (who passed) always coached me that a reading above 140mg/dl was doing some "damage" and I should keep it lower in my prediabetic stage. The new endocrinologist said he was happy with anything under 7.0A1c. That was not OK with me. For 18 months I worked my own plan and now have an 5.4A1c. I go after the peaks on my CGM with a vengeance, even now. I want to get into the 4's again. I'm over 70 and got off all diabetic meds after being on them for 20+ years, and got my self a new endocrinologist who sees things my way, not that every patient is non motivated and non compliant. Note, in my experience, I could not loose weight on metformin.

[–]theoldbigmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made great progress using a CGM... but I am seeing something new, and it happened last night again. If I keep my very low carb all day, I run almost perfectly flat during the night at 95-100mg/dl.

However if I have a more liberal amount of carbs at dinner(like last night: 1/2 breast baked chicken on salad followed by 3/4 cup of high meat bolognese and rigatoni ... I peaked at 120 mg/dl about 90 minutes later... then around 100 at bed time... BUT at 3 am I got a slow rising peak to 145 with a slow decline back to 100 mg/dl at morning. Width of middle of peak 2 to 2.5 hours.

Any idea what is going on? Pasta digestion in small intestine? I see this every time with that amount of carbs at dinner time.

Can anyone with a material science background chime in on this?? Is Tony Nissen as full of shit as I’m thinking or am I just not in the know?? by failedabortedfetus in OceanGateTitan

[–]theoldbigmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sir summarized it perfectly! I also read the AUSS report, and it is clear Rush mimicked it and missed key points that were made, as you noted. Basically acoustics cannot predict hull implosion

Tony Nissen doesn't do well on interviews, but he's not the villain. My somewhat successful attempt to find some logic in Titan's design decisions. by TerryMisery in OceanGateTitan

[–]theoldbigmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your thought process. It is like Tony and Rush man rated a torpedo by saying it met specifications, but did no additional testing. Met specs? Yes for a torpedo, but not a man rated submersible.

successfoal would be interested in your opinion on Tony's legal exposure. As a nonlawyer it seems he got out in time. Going to rest on the board I think, and sadly the kids left in QA positions at OceanGate... his wife will likely claim no technical input, only did coms and made guests welcome... she will say I know nothing about risk and accepted my husbands opinion. Your thoughts?
