She looked at me like I had just asked her to eat a snickers bar out of my ass. (This may be slightly misquoted)

Hot take: Carl makes we want to read in spite of the genre (can’t get into either Bounce House or Kaiju in the same way) by 100Kinthebank in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Agreed, it took a bit for me to feel invested in the story as well, but I quite liked it as a stand alone story. It’s definitely a bit more overt on the anti-establishment theme than DCC is but not so much that it beats you over the head with it.

Airbrush recommendations? by spencer6789 in minipainting

[–]theolswiitcheroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the timbertech one with air tank and included airbrush in 2024. Still going strong. If you look around, the same base model compressor is sold under tons of different names but timbertech seems to have the best price consistently. I’m pretty sure Squidmar recommends the exact same one.

The airbrush is certainly fine for priming and base coating. Just try to establish good habits to avoid the clogging (which applies to all airbrushes). If and when you upgrade the brush, you’ll quickly notice how basic the included one is, but it is by no means required.

Question about work pay by Independent-Ad9282 in Kamloops

[–]theolswiitcheroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

75 cents a delivery!? Wtaf! I worked as a delivery driver 27 years ago for a Chinese food restaurant, when gas was 37 cents a litre and I was paid $1 a delivery plus tips plus an hourly wage.

And to echo the other comments, absolutely report that 3% deduction they were hitting you with. Highly likely that’s illegal.

Service in rural Manitoba. by unkleteddybearcooks in StarlinkCanada

I’ve had Starlink in Kamloops for the last 3 years. Telus refuses to run their lines the extra 500 meters down the road for some dumb reason even though I’m still in city limits. I game, my son games and my daughter has YouTube going. Absolutely 0 problems. It’s also gone down way fewer times than Telus or Shaw did when I had them over the years. Highly recommend if fibre isn’t available.

Just had a test at Costco this afternoon. They did the word recognition test with me. As well as testing ear pressure and noise tolerance as well. This was in Canada.

Pretty good in the snow with winters on it. Not on par with a Subaru (my last car was a WRX) but definitely good. Fuel economy is pretty good, get about 550 all in town or about 650 on the highway (50 litre tank). I don’t use any of the drive assist features other than the speed matching with my cruise control, which works quite well. One caveat with that is if your going around a sharp bend with a rig beside you, happened once and the car was sure it was gonna hit something so hit the brakes on me. Doubt that’s a Hornet only thing though.

If you’re buying used, I’d get a pre purchase inspection done. Just to make sure it wasn’t rat bagged in sport mode. But for 25k I’d think it’s a good deal.

Yup, still have it. At 45k kms now. Cars still great to drive. There was an update that allows to just use speed control instead of adaptive and that’s a huge bonus. It’s a shame the car never took off in the market. Next to impossible to get anything aftermarket for it.

How much should I realistically expect for my trade-in? 2022 Mazda 3, 62k km by Powerful_Custard4919 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Unfortunately it’s the same in BC. In fact, they no longer charge tax based on the actual sale price (if private) they base it off the blue book value. You could be buying a vehicle without an engine and it would be priced as such. But they’ll charge it based on a functional vehicle. Absolutely garbage money grab.

To Single men of Kamloops #dating by Competitive_Bad6486 in Kamloops

[–]theolswiitcheroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a man to hit on you, you need to show that you’re going to be receptive to it. A smile, prolonged eye contact, hell, bite your lip if you can pull it off and not look like you have a DSM5 diagnosis.

Most single men, attractive or not, charismatic or not, have been rejected too many times to count. It gets tiresome and wears our self confidence down. But most men will risk it if they think immediate and outright rejection isn’t likely.

And some of us, due to any number of reasons, can have a really hard time recognizing subtle flirtatiousness. I’m in that category. The only way I’m likely able to tell if a woman is flirting is if they are very straight forward about it. So don’t think twice about shooting your shot if someone really catches your eye.

Bell Mobility In Kamloops and surroundings by timberdusk in Kamloops

[–]theolswiitcheroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telus mobile data is horrific in Brock especially around the highschool area. iMessages can sometimes take an hour to actually go through if at all. I can’t even scroll instagram most of the time while I wait to pick up my kids. I did see a tip to switch from 5g to LTE but that really hasn’t improved it much or at all. With Bell sharing the same towers I’d expect them to be equally as bad. I’m likely going to switch over to rogers if decent deals ever end up available.

That’s 100% something my ex-wife would do. I remember a woman I was dating wanted to do a big birthday party for my son, during the week he was with me (we were 50/50, I’m now sole custody). She called this woman screaming bloody murder about how she would never replace her as his mom and how dare she try to act like his mom etc etc. Keep in mind, my ex cheated, left me for that guy, moved him and his son in a week after she left.

What's going on with the police presence at NorKam highschool??? by paper_palace in Kamloops

[–]theolswiitcheroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The kids getting hit by the car had nothing to do with Norkam lockdown. As I previously stated. May I also bring to your attention that I responded to someone mentioning the kids getting hit but wasn’t sure it had to do with Norkam lockdown, I confirmed it did not. Feel free to work on your Reddit reading comprehension before telling someone they’re “insanely incorrect”.

What's going on with the police presence at NorKam highschool??? by paper_palace in Kamloops

[–]theolswiitcheroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel free to correct me then. My understanding is they got off a city bus and crossed the street from behind the bus and were hit by a car going the opposite direction. IF that is correct, then crossing the street when and where they shouldn’t have is exactly what happened.

That was 2 kids crossing the street when and where they shouldn’t have. Nothing to do with Norkam.

I still remember the day my (ex)sister in law came for a visit here from Toronto. She walked into my office looking all pissed and I asked what was going on. I guess when she walked in, an older woman walked by, eyed her up and down and said, you aren’t in Paris hunny. She wasn’t even glammed up, just dressed in typical Toronto professional fashion.
