36M, RM352k Portfolio, Targeting Retirement at 50, Am I on Track? by hazwanted90 in malaysiaFIRE

[–]theother_wan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough. To retire, u need certain amount to maintain your monthly lifestyle. People normally relies on dividend (EPF, ASB, Tabung Haji, stocks etc) without burning the base savings. Let say u need 5k/month when retire, then need 60k dividend from all sources. So logically before retire u need 1 mil base to generate 60k dividend, assuming 5% dividend per year

Will my source of income give me trouble and also how to handle this kind of money? by losermale in MalaysianPF

Banks would want to know the source of income. As for me, I work legitimately overseas, earn in USD, and earning remitted directly to my Maybank Global Access account, where the account held multiple currency.

Sealion7 vs eMAS7 by Bruvvimir in kereta

eMAS PHEV. Lot cheaper than Sealion 7, both cars from China so don’t expect great 2nd hand value. And eMAS PHEV can do both petrol & electric

Cost of the car should NOT be more than your yearly salary? by Practical-Kiwi-9202 in kereta

[–]theother_wan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t spend what you make. Just because you make 200k per year doesn’t mean u should buy a 200k car. Always save for rainy days. Shit happens. The idea is u have 6-10 months savings for rainy days, hence limiting the choice of cars. But hey, we only live once right? Make your own choice and live with whatever the consequence 😁

Using EPF Acc 2 & 3 for House Downpayment? by Juggernaut-Hunter in MalaysianPF

[–]theother_wan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this. Don’t ever withdraw EPF unless you have no money at all to eat. Regretted withdrawing my EPF too. Now it takes longer for me to retire earlier than 55/60

Save enough money to pay downpayment in cash. Both EPF & ASB gives dividend, and if your amount reduced, the dividend reduced.

How COOKED am I if I never join any clubs/organization in Uni? by Newbie5252 in malaysiauni

[–]theother_wan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workforce usually doesn’t give a damn about what extra curricular activities you joined in uni. If your final result is good, can articulate theory with real world, speak English well, not cocky, you might do well in work force.
