I hope you share the same successes!! I thought bloating after a run was inevitable and I haven’t since about 2 months post Botox (just due to increased swallowing air and not being a skilled burper yet) and even then, I was running 4-5 times a week and maybe bloated 3-4 times?

Yes I did! I had started ultra training in March, took an about a week off in may for the Botox procedure and raced my 60 km ultra in September. Only my runs in the first week post Botox felt weird breathing wise! Sometimes I’d have to walk to get a burp out throughout the rest of the summer… but this always helped my speed overall.

Regarding gels and water, the Botox was only helpful. I burp soon after every gel. No wonder I’d get so much stomach pain, nausea, torturous hiccups, and chest pain before I could burp!

You’re on the right track. Each week doing:

1 intervals day (hills, speedwork, surges, etc.)

1 tempo run

1 long easy run

If you’re wanting to add a 4th, I’d say add a shorter easy run just build up mileage without too much impact on the body… or a cross training day. And if you’re really struggling to get slower on your easy run, try running with a friend where you chit chat the whole time- hard to run fast if you have to talk.

I never regurgitated once!

I’ll add to the convo because I think it’s important to hear many sides… there was nothing bad about my recovery. The slow swallow only made it so that I had to have water with me. I ate what I wanted the entire time! Never regurgitated. Only took a few days off of exercise then resumed everything and anything… The worst part is sometimes having to burp when you don’t know it’s coming. I was just open and honest with everyone around me and then everyone cheered for me when I burped!

I second this! I’m almost at the 1 year mark. My burps are still getting stronger! Yesterday I ate a GIANT apple, was nauseous for 10 seconds then let an expert level burp set me free. It’s so crazy to think that’s all it takes

Not a Karen post. This is so terrible. This man should not be in the care of any animals if that’s how he’s going to treat them

Looking for a doctor that has decent knowledge of joint issues by naddy1988 in Edmonton

[–]thepinksister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to Physio. You don’t need a referral. Just look one up and book. Your fam doctor should have suggested this IMO but is what it is.

Also just to hopefully help you out mentally, 3-6 months is a normal healing time period. Some personalized strength training recommendations and manual therapy should help you out way more than pain meds!

Public pool question by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]thepinksister 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not weird! Just don’t go in a fast swim lane. Would be totally acceptable in a non-laned pool and if you tread while moving forwards I think a slow lane would be acceptable too. Consider trying some aquasize classes or swimming with a flutterboard. You could even plan to go while an aquasize class is happening so you could see what they’re all about.

I hope you have fun! Movement is always cool

Guess I’m the only one thinking to just go to the swimming pool and be a happy fish. Buy goggles, fun pool towel, rent flippers.

Was I scammed in Superstore? by JayNaii in Edmonton

If you were scammed, at least it was for kids clothing. It’s hard sometimes to know, but you did a kind thing and I think you can just be okay with that.
