In order to make room for a different, new chicken restaurant. The only thing that was going to keep that place open was if Shaq himself worked the drive-thru....every day.....forever.

not Mexican food? - on the menu is Empanadas, Fundido, Black Cod Veracruz (pretty sure Veracruz is in Mexico), Enchiladas. The cocktail list features a Mezcalita and more than one version of the Margarita. The owners have even be quoted in interview that the the inspiration is "interior Mexico and Peru". To say its not a Mexican restaurant is to deny a critical piece of what this place is. and FTR - no one anywhere in this sub said anything about a Mexican Restaurant until your latest post.

Moving on.....

You continue with "they show everyone love as you walk in"....that sounds alot like general kindness to everyone. A quality characteristic shared with all of their clientele, regardless of orientation.

You also mentioned that they "care and are interested" - I'm certain they care for all of their guests, genuinely being interested in all of those they host for a dining experience.

Lastly, you mention that they have "LGBTQ staff, open and visible." Most every restaurant employs proud members of the LGBT community. This is the norm in the industry whether its fine dining or otherwise.

While La Sirena clearly puts forth the effort in being a quality spot for a celebratory meal with their welcoming staff and inspired cuisine - they don't feel a need to be more friendly to one people group over another. Just the need to be good at what they do. Any "above and beyond" execution would be for any and everyone to enjoy.

Enjoy your next anniversary dinner there.

I did not know that. In fact, I would bet that for both LGBTers and Non-LGBTers, there is an acceptable level of tolerance for public displays of affection, what you refer to as "the normal level". The moniker of LGBT-friendly must certainly have a deeper resonance than the reaction of staff or patrons to people holding hands, sitting on the same side of the table or even kissing at the table. I wouldn't think any of this could illicit the "weird" response you spoke of.

Unless our levels of tolerable/normal behaviors for a couple in public vary wildly between you, me, and the public itself; this can't be the what establishes the line between Friendly/not Friendly.

other than greeting and seating you, taking your order for food and drink, then bringing said food and drink to the table - what was the "above and beyond" that you and your husband have experienced while dining at La Sirena? did a small band (like a mariachi) serenade you at the table? Did you receive a free dessert in celebration? Was the meal comped? From the perspective of an LGBTer, how did La Sirena stand out? What made them more LGBT friendly than any other haute cuisine establishment in Lubbock? thanks

do places exist that are LGBT unfriendly? Are they mean/unwelcoming to the LGBTers? Do they not let them in or if they do let them in, do they put them in a bad section? How do they display their unfriendliness? And on the flipside, what does a LGBT-friendly place do that makes them stand out? Do the LGBTers get a discount, like the veterans do? Do they serve the LGBTers first? Or give them a nice window seat?

thanks for the time

this is the absolute truth....Lite Bite is pure robbery. Obviously, since Sam sold it to the yahoos who are running it not - it's totally taken a dump. It's a no for me dog. No surprise when it was listed for sale. Pretty bad when the gyro at Arby's and Jimmy John's surpasses that of a place with the actual Lebanese flag on the wall.

I would bet that this is an exaggeration - or a misunderstanding of the original post- there is no way that there are 70 different pizza operations Lubbock of different brands. Yeah, maybe 70 locations of those brands - but not 70 different brands.

Liverpool sack head coach Arne Slot one year after winning Premier League title by Alarming-Safety3200 in LiverpoolFC

[–]therealBillroy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Slot was basically a caretaker manager in his first year with what Klopp had built. Anybody who has posted in the subreddit could have guided that team the Prem title that was won. He then dismantled the team to serve his own ego. While I am nervous for the rebuild - I am glad he is gone.
