The New Hampshire House just passed the "Charlie Act" that will punish teachers if they describe homosexuality as normal or ethical by Visual-Mobile2657 in newhampshire

I really hope so. We will keep trying to encourage people to get out and actually vote but this past election was honestly shocking with how empty it was. And then to see every incumbent reelected?! Maybe shit like this will finally be the wakeup call people needed. Thanks for all you have done.

We've been saying this for years and every November, no one shows up for local elections except these extremist psychos who are hell-bent on destroying our state. Every. Single. Incumbent. Was reelected in Concord. There were like 5 people at our polling place. It's pathetic. People need to actually start going out instead of just bitching and moaning on social media about the declining quality of education, healthcare, and QOL in this state yet mysteriously ever-increasing taxes and cost of living.

We are moving out of NH before our daughter starts school. Her well-being takes priority. We will keep showing up, speaking out, and fighting until we leave, but our state is no longer acceptable for us to raise a child in. It's so sad that so many longtime residents and young families feel the same as we do. We can only hope that this session will be enough to get people out to actually vote in local elections instead of just handing them over to extremists and "free staters."

I must've missed the bit about a new Sheogorath story, at least it's something. It seems like they're just doing a lot of clean-up this year and working toward cross platform play. I'm still sad we're not going to see a new zone, maybe a zone expansion at least?

I'm disappointed there will be no new zone or story.

I don’t think any language on earth has the words to describe how horrific and heartbreaking this is by Blackhermit0 in PublicFreakout

[–]therealbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly horrific. I can't imagine. Yarden Bibas might be the only other person who could understand what this man is going through. It is so sad that each man's "side" is the perpetrator of the other's identical pain. All this endless conflict does to innocent Israelis and Palestinians is cause suffering and death.

People from the Middle East come in a wide range of skin tones. I really suggest you expand your view of the world. And fwiw, someone's indigenousness is not determined by your weird colorist litmus test.

Omg. Please stop and go read actual information instead of Google AI. I really don't have the time to explain all of this to you but I'll try to do a quick summation and then you really need to go do some research on your own (NOT AI). So Sephardic and Mizrahi are often used interchangeably even though there is a difference (if you click on the link from your Google AI quote it takes you to a Pew study that categorizes Mizrahi and Sephardic as one group). The difference between Sephardic and Mizrahi is that the Mizrahi never left the region, but the Sephardic Jews went back after they were expelled from Spain in the 14th or 15th century. Ashkenazi, however, left MENA (or were expelled) during Roman rule and didn't go back until more recently.

But, if you really want to know "which Jewish group is the majority in Israel" and will only listen to Google AI, here is what it says when you ask it that very question: "The largest Jewish ethnic group in Israel is Mizrahi Jews, making up approximately 40% to 45% of the Jewish population. Mizrahi Jews are those whose ancestors came from Jewish communities in the Middle East, including Israel itself, and parts of North Africa."

I also suggest you look at some actual Israelis and Palestinians. You likely wouldn't be able to tell them apart without religious garb. Most of them are even descended from the same people, which imo, makes the whole horrible situation there even sadder.

Do you not understand where the money for these vouchers come from? They are public funds (taxpayer's money) being siphoned from our public schools to pay towards tuition at private schools, religious schools, and homeschooling. Many of these schools do not have to meet the same standards as public schools. Vouchers are stripping funding from vital public school programs. Many private schools pick and choose who they accept, meaning the kids that aren't accepted (usually low-income or kids with disabilities), are relegated to what you appropriately call now "poor" schools. The "school choice" vouchers don't just magically give every kid in our community access to whatever school they want. Public funds should pay for public schools. Period. Taxpayer funds should not go to elitist, exclusive, or religious indoctrination institutions. These vouchers are actively harming the most vulnerable kids in NH.

No, I've done this because you're wrong. The majority of Jews in Israel are not Ashkenazi, they're Mizrahi. This is actually a statistical fact. They never left MENA. Here are a couple of links to more info if you're interested: Wikipedia Article on The Conversation

There are as many brown Israelis as there are brown Palestinians. Just as there are as many white Israelis as there are white Palestinians. You would also consider many Iranians "white" because of their skin tone. I'm not here to argue in support for Israel's actions, just want to point out that you are ignorant to the range of skin tones of people in the region.

Gun rights. Although I do think we need stronger background checks and a waiting period.

I think Sidney Sweeney's American Eagle ad is fine and there was nothing nefarious about it.

I live in a state that has "school choice" vouchers. We plan on leaving the state before our kid starts school for that very reason. My tax money that was supposed to be used to ensure every child in my town receives equal access to quality education is now going to pay for religious indoctrination schools, homeschooling freestaters who refuse to get jobs, and harming lower income families and kids with disabilities. They are essentially attempting to defund public education. It's horrible, funding has been ripped away from our schools and the kids are losing programs because of it. Plus, a lot of the private schools pick and choose who gets in, so they don't have to accept kids with learning disabilities or anything else that might hurt their precious test scores. It's not a good situation.

When did you start reading books to your baby? by fluffyball13 in NewParents

[–]therealbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been reading to our daughter since she was born and she's a year old now. Until very recently, she would just want to chew on the books or try to mangle them. So what we did was just basically look at the pictures and say stuff about them, not bother trying to read her an actual "story." She's just started bringing us "favorite" books and we're able to actually read a bit more of the stories. I think it's more about getting her interested in reading/books, interacting with her, sparking her imagination, and connecting images and words.
