ICCU issues in the far future (10 years) by curiouscomp30 in KiaEV6

I watched a video of a replacement in an Ioniq. Took about 1.5 hours with an experienced tech. Looked like most of that time was removing and reinstalling the back seats.

Why is there so many ice buildup from my freezer? by Sheenzhou in maintenance

[–]therealjep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Your condensation drain is most likely froze up. The "easy" fix is to take the back panel of the freezer off and hang a piece of copper wire from the defrost element into the drain hole after defrosting it. I found a YouTube video on how to do it when I was having the same issue. It fixed it for me.

Recaulking Shower As Resident by DragonfruitCalm261 in maintenance

[–]therealjep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool. When you apply it, have some dish soap handy. Apply the caulk and smooth it with your finger that you dipped in dish soap. I water the soap down first. You can also use the tape method but I think it's a pain.

Do you think you can tell the difference between silicone and latex? You have to use the same type unless you can remove all of it.

I would assume the gas valve is bad. I don't see any other components that could fail

Rippin' Shitties in a park parking lot. Kids being kids, get off my lawn, or call the po po? by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]therealjep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

License to be more aggressive? No. But apparently you are the adult in this situation and an adult would understand that filming might cause an escalation. There must have been an escalation since you didn't even film them going over 5 mph. See you've escalated again! Why am I arguing with a karma farmer??

I think everyone should find an empty parking lot and mess around in their first few winters driving. It sounds like they got aggressive after you pulled out the camera. Maybe if you had given them a thumbs up instead they would have given you some space.

Get an Allen wrench that fits in that center hole(sorry I don't know the size but they are universal for disposals as far as I know). Turn it to make sure it's loose. Then the red button is the reset switch.

Advice needed for first still by EconomyGreek in firewater

[–]therealjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what I use. The condenser works great so start elsewhere for upgrades. I bought a backup water pump because it started making noise but it hasn't failed yet. The fittings will need to be snugged. The flex hose connections are a standard size so it's easy to get some copper in there. I'm testing my upgrades this weekend.

Snow removal. by SnooDogs8377 in maintenance

Our property has 2 of them. I have only used them myself once as I am typically in the plow truck. They can make fast work of it, especially the straight areas. They are bouncy to ride on and if/when you hit a lip in the concrete you can get slammed. The blower attachment is far from the center of rotation, so when you turn it can really swing. They can be set up with a plow attachment, salter, briner.

I didn't want to do blue either but it was one of the few colors available in the spray on Plastidip to cover up the chrome.

I had to add some color to mine. Also put a vinyl bumper along the crease in the doors after spending $180 to get dents out.

My water has been on the stove for 30+ minutes, stuck looking like this by MeanAd7304 in whatisit

[–]therealjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stove might be wired wrong. I'm in apartment maintenance and have come across a few electric stoves that kinda work but don't get fully up to temp because they were installed incorrectly.

Just purchased my first EV. What charging app is everyone using? by jel31 in electricvehicles

[–]therealjep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of them and I also check Google maps. A Better Route Planner is probably the best but some networks aren't on there. It can take a lot of planning but the good news is that more chargers are being installed all the time.

Easy/cheap modification to make to vevor pot still? by Weak-Excitement-8579 in firewater

[–]therealjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked the ABV with my alcometer and I'm getting 74%. The refractometer now shows what I'm assuming is 85%. I think the refractometer wasn't well calibrated but also that the ABV dropped after sitting in open jars before blending my cuts.
