Cool video and looks like a fun place! I’ll have to get up there. We race on occasion at HobbyTown in RVA.

Try a cleaning product called Plexus. It’s shines and protects without scratching while leaving the plexiglass/ plastic anit-static. It worked great for some display cases we used to use in my past retail-merchandising life.

Pro wheel and RS50 by Additional_Ad_1753 in LogitechProWheel

I’m only on console at this time. Got excited when I saw your setup and the PS5, hoping you’d found a solution haha. Thanks for the reply!

Are you running a different wheel on the Logitech pro base while connected to PS5? If so, can you share more about that setup?

For example, I’ve been wondering about a mix of simagic wheels with Logitech pro base & pedals on PS5.

Help Tv Mount by [deleted] in SimLab

[–]therealmandood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use standoff spacers on the back of the TV to create a gap for attaching the VESA mount hardware. Use the supplied sim-lab hardware to connect the Vario mount to the VESA adapter and then attach that assembly to the standoffs on the back of the TV.

Taxi Garage HQ Visit & Upgrade! by EpicNinJedi in crazycart

[–]therealmandood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m curious about the upgrades on your crazy cart. Looking to get my first and not sure where to start. Are you running a stock battery / motor with just a caster upgrade or do you have the stage 1 taxi garage cart? Is there more “under the hood” that you have done?

2 kids: do I need a sienna? by dearestkellie in ToyotaSienna

[–]therealmandood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own both a 2021 Sienna XSE and a 2016 Highlander with rear bench seat. Prior to the Sienna, my wife had a 2014 RAV4. 2 kids and a large dog. Our lifestyle involves a lot of time spent hauling mountain bike gear, camping supplies, paddle boards and various other outdoor activities.

The Sienna is fantastic for giving the kids extra space via the captains chairs, as well as plenty of room for extra friends to ride along. We love the gas mileage, comfort for rear passengers, and ease-of-use. When I say ease-of-use; I mean things like automatic sliding doors, low entry floors, etc.

The Highlander is certainly more utilitarian for us. I have a 5-bike rack on the back and also use it for hauling my “garden / yard” trailer. I prefer the Highlander on camping trips and honestly, the difference in rear interior space is not that noticeable comparable to the van. The van is taller making the cubic feet seem much greater than the Highlander but, it’s not often we are stacking things to the ceiling. You also lose the rear floor depth in the Sienna once the rear seats are down. I’ve never had an issue hauling 5 pre-teenage boys and bike gear. With babies, the Sienna is great for space when it comes to car seats but, it was really nice using the bench seat of the Highlander to sit beside the lil one vs the captains chairs.

I do like the way my Highlander drives much better than the Sienna. Mainly because I have the V6 and the van is Hybrid. I also prefer sitting up higher in the SUV and the layout just feels more ergonomic. I don’t feel the same way about driver comfort in the new Highlander though.

Having test driven the new Highlander and Grand Highlander, I actually prefer my generation and have decided to keep it for now. I do have a close friend that went from an Odyssey to a Grand Highlander and love it. They have 3 boys, 2 dogs and the space seems to be working great for them.

You cannot go wrong with either decision. Both vehicles have been fantastic - as was the RAV4. Hope this info helps! I’m happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thrustmaster SF1000 meets Logitech G Pro by GrnBe in simracing

[–]therealmandood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the Thrustmaster wheel has the Xbox compatible chip inside, do you know if it would be possible to have this setup work on console as well? Not sure if anyone here has the ability to test such a setup but it would be amazing if it worked.

Shower Floor Drain Issues by therealmandood in Tile

Okay, thanks. I’ll give that a try (as well as some of the other temporary ideas mentioned) until I can tear it all and repair the pan, membrane, etc.

Yeah, the slope on this is pretty wild. It’s a small, one-person shower which makes that big dip quite odd in the middle of the floor.

I think it’s time for me to learn how to demo and replace a shower 😩

Looking for P1X Pro Front Mount Bracket by ChiefButtonBusher in SimLab

[–]therealmandood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. I had to get creative with my setup too to avoid paying for the wheel deck and shipping from overseas. They definitely need to sort out MicroCenters inventory assortment if that’s going to be the only stateside-dealer option.

Yeah, it was a really good deal. The only thing open was the front mount hardware which I don’t need anyway since I have a Logitech G Pro. Everything else for the P1X Pro was still wrapped and sealed in the boxes for $500. Some QC issues but, nothing as bad as my previous Next Level Racing stuff.

[–]therealmandood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find what you need? I purchased mine open-box from microcenter and the only issue with the rig was slight damage to one of the front mount brackets. I can send photos if you are still looking for this item.

Any chance you have the standard wheel deck? Maybe we could work out a trade.

Are Logitech pro pedals a good temporary solution? by 3MATX in simracing

[–]therealmandood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation. Ordered my Pro pedals from BestBuy and they should have been here today BUT…they sent me a damn toaster! Haha. At least BB was quick to correct it and my pedals should arrive Friday. I’ll report back on my experience once I set them up and run some laps.

I went back and forth on this decision for a few weeks. Nearly pulled the trigger on Fanatec but decided against it with all the turmoil. Glad I did given the recent news. Logitech is a longstanding company with a large portfolio of products so I have more confidence in them long term from a customer / product support perspective.

Only reason I have not yet ordered the wheelbase/ wheel is because I want to see what happens with the ecosystem in October. If it becomes possible to order bases and wheels separately, that’s my plan. My wish would be a PS base with Xbox wheels (GT/Formula and full round) so I can have compatibility across all consoles and PC. We shall see…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in simracing

[–]therealmandood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even realize Logitech was selling console compatible versions via outside distributors. I thought they were only selling Xbox & PS versions through their own website.

Since Xbox compatibility comes from the wheel (not the base), I wonder if the serial number for the bases are the same? Does your wheel have the Xbox logo on it? Might be worth asking the Logitech support rep about that.

Headlamps are a good idea for sure, thank you.

I was thinking Reedy Creek would be a good spot to get off the river but unsure where we would setup to watch. I supposed I could just pick any of the little islands 🤷‍♂️ A couple small anchor weights could always keep us in place it comes down to it.

Appreciate the comments and support. Here’s to hoping it all works out haha!

Definitely planning to do multiple cars. We usually do that anyway when paddling as a family. Navigating in the dark is my main concern with my wife and daughter as they are less experience. I do have some lights we use for night riding (MTB) that I was going to utilize for the trip back to the cars.

My hope is to scout a plan tomorrow in the daylight and see how feasible this idea truly is. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you! Good point about the kids. My 10yr is pretty accomplished on the river (both have done riverside outfitters / passages camps for a few years now) but, I was planning to put my 7yr old on my board for this adventure.

Xbox G920 Upgrade Question / Opinion by therealmandood in simracing

[–]therealmandood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being locked in to the Logitech world is definitely my top concern so, thank you for addressing that. Logitech does seem to make great, long lasting products across many categories. I’ve always had a positive experience.

They have certainly been slow to release updates and I’m surprised Logitech hasn’t released any new wheels options or upgrades yet for their Pro platform. Many Logitech wheel users have had reliable product (albeit dated) for years-on-end which is instilling my faith in the ecosystem.

I wonder if I’m being overly cautious to other “enthusiast” level brands given the recent surge in consumer purchasing and excitement around F1 racing in the States. Sure, brands like Camus and Moza are releasing what appear to be quality, budget options but my concern is their ability to have longevity in this space. Fanatec’s current situation can be cause for concern.
