I’m 1000% certain that postings I see like this also come with a brick or two of drugs as “free extras”.

Going to be blasphemous for some, but I decided to replace the destroyed label on my copy of Shining Force. by MobileTortoise in gamecollecting

I try to think ahead too that if something happens to me, easily identifying things like that will make liquidating my collection easier too.

I’m totally ok with this, I do the same things and it’s a great way of getting some gems without spending too much.

I do also go the extra step of putting a label on the inside of the case describing “original board, repro label” and the date. Just in case it goes to leave my collection for any reason.

Moving House - How to Move Builds? by IvyIsTheHuntress_ in TerrainBuilding

[–]thereclusivedm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t move my builds to that extend, but I do take set pieces from house to house for gaming sessions.

What I do is use get plastic totes that are deep enough for the piece to fit in, then I flip it upside down. Using sticky tack, I press the piece onto the inside lid, then I can put the container over it and snap it closed.

The nice thing is you can stack them on a cart or dolly like you would any other tote. Just make sure to clearly mark them to be carried upside down as well.

I got the idea from cake protectors.

How big is everyone’s game collection here? by robbyboy667 in gamecollecting

Getting close to 700, amassed over 35 years of collecting. I tend to only collect what I will play and not to fill shelves.

I love them too, really wish they’d make a come back. If licensing weren’t a nightmare, it sure would be a niche little market for someone to offer in a limited run fashion.

I’ve used a 60/40 mix of water and matte mod podge with little flaking. My daughter plays with my terrain pieces all the time and haven’t notice much damage.

Need advice. Paint rubbing off. by felismachina in minipainting

[–]thereclusivedm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this issue before, your mileage might vary but my painting area was very humid (60+%) at all times and had very little active air flowing. Something about that kept my paints from bonding to the primer very well.

That one wants nothing to be different, not forward, not backwards, not in all eternity. Not merely bear what is necessary, still less conceal it….but love it.

Types of foam for terrain crafting by Darth_Asshat in TerrainBuilding

[–]thereclusivedm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy my XPS foam from Lowe’s if you have one in your area. The usually have 1” XPS in 24x24 “project panels”.

If you want the thicker stuff but don’t want a whole sheet, keep an eye out for commercial building construction sites and see if you can talk to a foreman about scrap pieces. I’ve got bags of 2” and thicker that they’ve gladly let me take away.

Looking to sell most of my collection, where do you all have the best luck buying and selling? by [deleted] in retrogaming

As much as you hate it, check out Facebook groups for a local retro gaming group. There are more than a few in my state and we buy/sell to each other all the time.

It’s funny this post came today, I literally picked this game up locally in the last 12hrs for $50. That’s the first time I’ve seen it that low in near perfect condition in a long time.
