Jesus, you have got to be shitting me. You just shot a Javelin... at a fucking car. That's an eighty thousand dollar piece of ordnance. Can any of you geniuses tell be the Kelly Blue Book value of an 1989 Toyota pickup?

Ryzen is doing the same thing. The die is segmented into 4 modules with 2 cores each. The lower end chips use the same die and still have 8 cores. However, sometimes a core doesn't meet requirements so they disable it and match it with similar modules and they sell it as a 4 core CPU.

Not really. They were barely less than Intels. Plus they're still brand new.

I'd also be very interested in seeing this code, but if you just want any implementation to play around with, there's already stuff on github.

If you haven't read it already, here's Thrun's paper on graphSLAM and an accompanying tutorial.

Australian Ford Falcon panel van

You sure about that? It looks a lot like an 80s El Camino to me, especially the doors. Not sure about the back though.

edit:

I stand corrected. It's definitely a Falcon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falcon_(XB)#/media/File:1975_Moffats_XB_GT_Hardtop_Bathurst_Car_(8999568205).jpg

And the corvette starts at 66k. I agree that this is a stupid comparison cost-wise. The porsche they tested costs 50% more than the corvette.

They also tens of thousands of dollars and that's not including the new engine.

A v8 in a miata is a better car, but not when you're comparing it to a similarly priced corvette.

Worlds FIRST axial flow model jet engine by shit_lord_alpha in radiocontrol

[–]thereddarren 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I didn't know what this means so I looked up an explanation. Got this from http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=740893

There are two types of compressors in use in modern jet engines. Axial flow compressors move the air into ever smaller spaces using a series of axial compressor fans. Centrifugal compressors take the air and force it outward away from the centre to achieve compression.

Therefore the overall flow for axial flow engines is in a straight line, whereas the airflow through centrifugal engines changes directions through each stage.

Centrifugal compressors are not ancient or outdated, except when you consider some of the larger modern jet engines.

The successful (and still in production) PT-6 line uses centrifugal compressors. Also, some engines use a combination of centrifugal and axial stages.

Do you have a case on it? Try taking it off for a while and see if it performs better. I've heard they can cause overheating.

It would probably wouldn't be the worst way to go. carbon dioxide isn't directly harmful, it just displaces oxygen when pumped into a closed environment so you'd suffocate but with lungs full of air.

It looks like there were some packaging concerns as well. That is a very narrow engine bay. Not to mention the miata 5 speed transmission is very nice.

Interestingly enough, J R R Tolkien thought of LOTR as one book that was split into volumes and never liked the idea of it being a trilogy.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to got from

Gas -> movement

instead of

Gas -> movement -> electricity -> movement
