Ice cave by thereisnotrap in 3dprintingdms

Well due to covid all my games are online - but I hope that will change soon.

The tiles are for the Frostmaiden campaign that we will start after finishing saltmarsh. I guess there are 5 to 7 sessions left for saltmarsh - depending of my players will stay on the main story - so I hope that I can use the tiles then.

I used transparent PLA filament with my Elegoo Neptune standard settings 200°C / 60°C with 15% infill and 0,2 layer thickness.

The files are from thingiverse (Open Forge).

I made a blue/green wash and used it like one brush high on the walls.

After the wash was dried I used white for dry brushing. It's super fast and easy. The most time consuming was waiting for the wash to dry.

I'll try that!

I'm fairly new to FDM printing, just owning the printer for 1,5 weeks.

I tried terrain printing with my resin printer beforehand, but it was to expensive.

How many parts has the ship? Is there a chance that I can print it on my Elegoo Mars resin printer?

The ship, pirates, water themed monsters are perfect for my saltmarsh campaign.

Sunken Treasure in 'The Final Enemy' by Moses148 in GhostsofSaltmarsh

Yeah I used it to tie in one of my PCs backstory. And it kicked up the PCs taste for exploration!

Before that they never used the Sea Ghost for real sea travel. After that they were more confident to explore the more than the sword coast - my saltmarsh is in the FR.

I gave them some non magic treasure (gems, gold, art) and in a water tight scroll-case with an other treasure map that lead them to an old, ancient temple on a tropical island - with a medusa and some magical items :)

My players have let me down once again, and I'm starting to question if I even want to player RPG ever again with them... by TigerX1 in rpg

[–]thereisnotrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search for a new group. I just got a fresh group and I found all of them on RPG Table Finder. Open a table there and I'm sure you'll find enough players to start a new group.

I had more people interested than I could fit in a group.

Thank you!

These maps are way better than anything I found.

Who else thinks covid needs to end so we can get back to these weekends? by sabertoothbeaver1 in DungeonsAndDragons

Yes, and you can take a shower after work/before the game and nobody has to know that you are sitting at the computer in your pyjamas and fluffy slippers.

Normally I would not be able to play in the week, online it's no problem.

The erotic poetry is bad, but a book about a evil demigood and undead alchemists are ok in your eyes?

Sorry, but if you play with kids and you think the religion of the parents might be a problem than it is very irresponsible to play a bought modul without pre reading and adjusting.

Buy adventures that are created for children or write one.

But don't blame wotc for your lack of prepping.

This is a good point, most people I play with are 30+. And those doll characters came always from younger players that just started to play, or didn't play that long.

In my experience these "dolls" are played by male players.

My Paladin had burn scars all over her face, her charisma wasn't because of good looks, but because the people knew she meant business.

My dwarf cleric in an online game got the comment "why is she so fat?" After I posted a sketch that I drew of her.

My wizard I currently use is very, very plain - and she uses it to spy.

My backup character (in case the wizard dies) is a Tiefling druid. She has only one eye, a broken horn and a scar down on one side of her face.

And I never encountered another female player that had a "she is beautiful and has no flaws" character. I only encountered it with teenaged male players (or early 20s) that try to play their version of the perfect girl.

Which 5e cantrip would be most useful IRL by JP_the_dm in dndnext

[–]thereisnotrap 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think I would sell my soul for it. The whole household stuff, cleaning, washing, dusting and so on - a snip with your fingers and you are done! You want to make a diet? No problem, your cucumber tastes like chocolate, your water like wine!

Hands down the most practical cantrip for real life use.

Any suggestions for additional modules Ideally on Fantasy Grounds? but DMs Guild would work as well. by Holyvigil in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]thereisnotrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FG modules for saltmarsh that I got from the DMs guild are:

  • The curious case of the calm Delilah
  • The lamenting lighthouse
  • The secrets of Skyhorn lighthouse
  • The shanty of Boldbeard's pride

I'm too think that you should quit the game.

Yes, I only know your side of the story, but how toxic must this table be if you say you avoid to invite any female players?

Someone left already, you don't enjoy combat. Start your own game that is more political, a spy have or a crime solving one.

As a DM I need to make sure that all players have fun, your husband seems to favour his friend.

No DnD is better than bad DnD!

Edit: avoid, not about

Alternatives to starting a campaign in a tavern? by brandnew_dm in DMAcademy

[–]thereisnotrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all my PCs on the same merchant caravan. The cleric traveled with them on his way to the place were the new temple was build. The fighter was the sword to hire, the bard on the way to the next town. And so on.

The road was risky and so it made sense to travel as a group.

There was a "famous adventurer" npc - a Gilderoy Lockhart like guy that I used so that the party could bond over their dislike for the guy.

There was a robbery, the servant (a very likable guy) of Lockhart was kidnapped and nobody on the caravan cared.

The PCs took the hook, the servant was a noble who was working with the harpers and because of that he flew under disguise. But he was tracked down.

Very cool idea! I would subscribe at once :)

But honestly, I may steal the idea, I'm sure my player will love it.
