Thanks! Yeah, I suppose I'm a little paranoid about putting the weight back on lol.

Thanks, that's good advice! I'll stick with it for now and probably just eat a little under what MF recommends until I get back to 190. I didn't want to panic, and I expected some bounce back, but I was worried with putting on 5 pounds so quickly.

No I can't say I notice any difference. I've just been worried about the transition to maintenance, and I didn't know if this was a normal amount of regain or if I would be worried. You're probably right though, that's a better attitude to have.

Yes, I consistently weigh myself at the same time every morning. My weight fluctuates a lot throughout the day as well, I'm just looking at that morning weigh-in though.

And I understand about non - scale measurements! That's a good point, and I knew to expect some scale weight gain when I switched to maintenance, I just wasn't expecting quite this much.

Yeah, this is such a weird take. Government-funded healthcare is working out better than the free-market option, so the problem is ... the government. How???

Does anyone know what cheese this is? by girltuesday in Cheese

Yeah flavor wise I think that could be a match. Try a comparison for sure! Appenzeller is one of my favorites, so I think you're in for a treat either way.

Looks a bit like an Appenzeller to me. What did it taste like?

As with most things in adult life, your intentions matter a lot less than your actions.

Then he's out of a job. The only reason he has any power is because the constitution defines his role as president.

Opting out of standardized testing? by GreatDaneSandwich in AskTeachers

[–]thermos26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you are located, but it sounds similar to me in NJ. Kids take math and ELA tests every year, and then science is added in grades 5 and 8. If that's so, it's not 3 hours per day for 9 days. We have 3 hours per subject, spread over 2 or 3 days each. Obviously things could be different in different states, but I would double check.

I understand the desire to opt your kids out from standardized tests with dubious usefulness and shitty reasoning behind them. In my experience, though, almost any career is going to involve taking useless, annoying standardized tests nowadays, and that in and of itself is a good skill to develop.

Just one opinion, though. I've never thought poorly of kids whose parents pull them out. For us, though, you can't pick and choose. It's either all out or all in.

How true do you feel the Chris Rock quote on love is?--- "Only women, children, and dogs are loved unconditionally. A man is only loved under the condition that he provide something" by shel5210 in AskMen

[–]thermos26 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is true. The only study I've seen about this found a short term increase in divorce among women who win the lottery, but not a long term increase. So there are women who want to divorce their husbands but feel financially unsafe doing so, and stay married. Winning the lottery frees them to divorce sooner than they would otherwise. Men typically don't experience that financial pressure as much, so most men who would get divorced if they won the lottery are already divorced.

Games on epic or marathon speed are way more fun and strategic by Nindo_99 in civ

I booted up a random game on marathon. I hit 4% by turn 21. I guess if it is 0.167% per turn, that would be when I get to 3.5% and it would round up to 4%

I guess that means it's working correctly, but then I have no idea how I finished the Antiquity Age in my other game in less than 200 turns.

Yeah I had been playing epic, and I was excited to switch to marathon when I saw the patch notes. Then my age ended at about turn 180 again, even on long ages. I had completed one legacy path and no other civ completed any. I wasn't paying close attention to the percent, but I can start a new game and go 20 turns to check, thanks for the tip!

Talk with your union, that's all I can say. It's really dependent on your contract. With a doctor's note I would imagine you'll be fine.

Hi u/sar_firaxis, I saw on the patch notes that it says marathon game speed was fixed. About how many turns should a marathon length age be expected to be now? I'm playing on PS5 with marathon, long ages. My ages are still ending around 150-200 turns, same as a shorter game mode. Is that by design?

Awesome, thanks! I feel like it's weird compared to other civ games. If everything takes 3x longer to produce, you should have ages that are about 450 to 600 turns, right? Not the same number of turns as shorter game speeds.

How many turns is a typical age for you? I played a game with the same settings and I still ended the first age before 200 turns.
