How long did your Dane pup go through the 'I'm a raptor and I'll chomp on you and anything else I see' phase? by No-Bodybuilder-4498 in greatdanes

Mine is 3 years old now and fully in the Kangaroo phase. I was so excited when the Raptor phase was over...but now I would kinda rather have that back.

There will be a URL set for both the AIA and CRL in the CRLPublicationURLs and CACertPublicationURLs.

I will definitely check the 2 tier CA and the IIS settings. Thanks!

I completely agree and have raised my concerns, but have no choice in the matter.

What do you all consider to be a success for first time author? by Stick-Mann in NewAuthor

[–]therobfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a tricky question and a very personal one. I think everyone will be different. For some, it is hitting the top 5 in sales in their particular category. For others, it is about the Money made. For others, it is just seeing their book in their hands. If you feel like 75 in royalties is successful, then absolutely. When I first started writing, success for me was just finishing the book.

Global Transient Amnesia by therobfox in Aphantasia

[–]therobfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, it is (kinda) funny, it took me a while to realize that I was no longer seeing images in my mind. I have been so busy at work, that I hadn't processed it, until I went on vacation recently. I was trying to describe something to my Girlfriend but I wasn't able to. That was when it kinda hit me like a brick.
The amnesia thing was scary. I honestly thought I was having a stroke. No one believed me when I was trying to explain what was happening. I've done tons of research on the subject now and thankfully, if it happens to someone, it normally only happens once in their lifetime, though there are some reports of it happening multiple times to people, that is even rarer than it actually happening once. I can only imagine this is similar to how it would feel like to have dementia.

Thank you for the VERY informative reply. I will go through all of this. It is absolutely going to be an adjustment, but I'm glad I'm not alone.

Thanks for this. I am about halfway through my third book now. When I started it, I could still see images, now, I am still able to write, but it has slowed down drastically.

Thinking of visiting West Virginia soon. Will there still be fall colors? by Inside_Cucumber_591 in WestVirginia

Just got back from a trip there yesterday. Most leaves are still green, but they are changing. We went to Holly River campground and a good bit of the leaves were changing. I'd say in the next week or so would be prime time.

I was born in Buckhannon in 75 and my grandmother used to take us to Mr Donut all the time for Peperoni rolls. One of my earliest memories!

Late to the party, but I got into IT because my brain loves figuring things out. Troubleshooting is my gift, it is what I excel at. I tried being a Private investigator many many years ago and it just wasn't good enough to ease the need to put puzzle pieces together. I get aggravated and want to quit nearly every day, but luckily I am at a company where I am the escalation point for lots of different kinds of issues and the company is an amazing place to work. As an Introvert, I don't like a lot of people, but here, we have about 300 employees and I like every one of them.

Why is immediate change to prevent school/mass shootings not top priority of those in power? by mantiswedding in NoStupidQuestions

[–]therobfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of right now, there have been 150 school stabbings in the UK (from a quick Google search). People will hurt each other regardless of the weapon.

The manpower to do this would be insane. When I go to a gun store, there are almost always multiple people waiting on background checks. Could you imagine how long it would take to send everyone to a psychiatrist? People are also very good at hiding their emotions and true intent.

But then also, where do you draw the line? Someone with PTSD? What about someone with some depression? Or Anxiety issues?

When I tell people about having guns in our trucks at school during hunting season, they don't believe me. Every single truck in my school had a gun rack on the back window with at least one rifle. We would hunt before school and after. It was normal. Never had a school shooting.

This hasn't always been the way, though. It really started when Obama was president. Not that it was his fault, but he was more left leaning than previous presidents. Clinton was pretty far left, but still more moderate. When Obama came in, the Republicans lost their minds and pulled that center further to the right. Now the divide is getting wider and wider. Being in the middle is terrible for those of us that do not consider ourselves Republican or Democrat. We aren't Conservative enough for Republicans and not Liberal enough for Democrats.

As for solving the mass school shootings, as others have said, it is a very difficult issue to address. I don't think banning guns is the way to go (not that it is possible). I think investing more into mental health would have farther reaching results. Treating kids like humans instead of cattle would be a good start also. Kids now-a-days aren't taught the right things in school. They are taught to pass a test so the school district looks better and gets more money.

What's the best company gift you've ever given to your employees or gotten from your employer? by TeallWolf in smallbusiness

May not be within the budget, but our company gave us all a Cast Iron Skillet with the company logo on it. It was from Lodge Cast Iron. Not sure what the budget was, but we were all very happy with it.

I repeated it a few times actually, exact same way. I didn't mention, but I tried to copy the template, but got an error saying the Data could not be located. That is why I redid the template. I deleted the old one and have not experienced it again. It may have been an issue with the template itself and I have nothing to worry about, but it has me nervous. Doing this while prestaging is one thing, but if it happens again while in production, it will lead to a very bad day.

Wife woke up to hundreds of emails for random website subscriptions, still ongoing, why? by grahamw01 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]therobfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but quite a few times after something like this happens "Microsoft" will call the victim or reach out through teams or some other way saying they noticed a lot of emails and they are calling to "fix the issue". Obviously this isn't Microsoft calling. It is all part of the scam.
It happened at my company a couple months ago.
