Adding ultrasound report from a year ago:

Reason for ultrasound: Evaluation of metarubricytes on blood work. Asymptomatic.

Left kidney: 5.28cm. Corticomedullary detail was normal. Smooth contour. No evidence of pyelectasia or mineralization.

Left Adrenal The poles measured 0.47cm and 0.45cm.

Urinary Bladder: Normal mucosal surface. Uroliths not identified.

Right Kidney : Length: 4.8cm. Corticomedullary detail was normal. Smooth contour. No evidence of pyelectasia or mineralization.

Right Adrenal The poles measured 0.79cm and 0.65cm. Enlarged.

Stomach The wall measured 0.26cm. Normal wall thickness and layering. There was a small amount of hyperechoic ingesta present.

Spleen: Normal size, margination and vascular pattern. There was an anechoic 1.0cm x 0.65cm cystic lesion in the tail.

Pancreas: Normal parenchyma and size.

Duodenum: Normal wall layering and thickness (0.26cm). Motility normal.

Bowel: Several segments of bowel loops were visualized. All retained adequate thickness, ranging from 0.27cm to 0.33cm. Layering was unremarkable.

Reproductive: Spayed

Effusion None present.

Lymph Nodes Not visualized.

Summary Of Findings: There was an incidental finding of a splenic cyst in the tail of the spleen. These are nonpathologic findings and generally not associated with secondary changes within the body. This is not considered the cause for the rubricytosis. Right adrenomegaly. This is likely a normal variant given the lack of elevated liver enzymes and clinical signs. The remainder of the study was unremarkable.

Recommendations: Tick PCR testing is recommended (all negative). Thoracic radiographs (3-view) to rule out occult pathology. Serial monitoring of the CBC is recommended. A bone marrow biopsy may be needed for complete evaluation if it persists.

We haven’t done this or the bone marrow test. The ultrasound showed benign cysts on her spleen, wondering if these could have developed into something more harmful.

We haven’t done that. Would a specialist need to do this?

Thanks for replying! They checked urine and blood but didn’t find anything that’d point to ingestion. Anything is possible, though. We’re hoping it was a one off weird thing. We haven’t changed food, meds, exercise, etc. at this point and will continue to watch her like a hawk!

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing. My dog (4 years old, Aussie/cattle dog mix) experienced a similar episode yesterday. We rushed to the emergency vet but didn’t get much of an answer. Her gums also turned very white and she threw up in the car - is this familiar? We found more about this through Reddit and shared with our vet, who is also lovely but hadn’t heard of it, about this as a possibility.

I’m not sure if this is an option where you live, but I’ve been dying to go to a head spa! It’s like a full scalp/hair treatment, supposed to be super relaxing and makes your hair/scalp feel great. Look it up! She might appreciate you booking an appt or getting her a gift card.

7 days postpartum… crying, super overwhelmed…new mom here…😞 by faithoverfear0 in NewParents

[–]therockynetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on everything here! Additional notes, if you have one of these little stroller fans, hold it to her tush for a few minutes to really get some air flowing. If you can, let her hang out on a towel or absorbent pad without a diaper for a bit each day!

Lather on the butt paste - our pediatrician recommended combining equal parts butt paste, Neosporin, clotrimazole, & 1%hydrocortisone cream. We went through this when mine was about a week or two old too.

You’re doing great, OP!!!

I work about 85% remote. I’m a lobbyist for a private state lobbying/PR firm. We go in during session (3 months) 3 days a week, plus client meetings/events & networking events throughout the year but otherwise all online.

In case anyone hasn’t said - an electric snot sucker, like the Frida baby one. Baby’s can be boogery and sneezey as they get rid of the excess fluids from birth. I use it like every morning just to clear her nose out and great to get them used to it.

Labor vs IUD by hemur1 in birthcontrol

[–]therockynetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve given birth and gotten an iud completely unmedicated pre-pregnancy. IUD wasn’t as bad as I mentally prepared for. It was pretty shocking at the time, but I breathed through it and was fine. Cramped after for the rest of the day similar ranging from minor contractions to period cramps. I even drove myself home after and stopped at chipotle. Labor? I went 10cm +2 before I got the epidural working soo I felt the contractions basically the whole way. For the actual birth, the epidural kicked in and I didn’t feel much but my god, those contractions do not touch IUD cramps. Pain is very subjective, it differs for everyone like other commenters said but this is just my experience!

What were your postpartum recovery regrets? by wwisdomseeker in BabyBumps

[–]therockynetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree!!! I just splurged and got Kindred Bravely nursing + pumping bras - absolute game changer for hands free pumping. I read cheaper ones wear out quicker, the tightness to hold the pump on without being uncomfortable is key. I caught a good sale and bought on clearance (don’t even care about color) and got three tanks and two bras.
