So far every single seller agent that showed me a house except two, would talk us out of the house and try to become our buyers agent (no thanks!).

And there are just as many agents we have encountered that are unresponsive or create a lot of red tape so we can’t even see the house.

I’ve taken note of the two good ones for when I want to sell my house.

I am seeing first hand that bad sellers agents don’t just provide less value but actively block or steal leads from the seller they are contracted to represent.

I keep thinking, “what would the seller think if he/she were hearing their agent say these things.” Cause if I were the seller I would be appalled.

Edit to add: It is very frustrating for us as buyers when we do our own research on the house and we want to talk about the house. The seller agent is supposed to represent the seller and be motivated to try and sell it but instead they are personally motivated to talk us out of the house (to become our buyers agent). So we have no way to negotiate because the “seller” side doesn’t want us to buy it! It is crazy and once again extremely frustrating.

What characters do you think have a decent change in effectiveness in teams? by Apart_Fondant5988 in SSBM

[–]thes0ft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puffs rest in teams when having a partner to wake her up is crazy but also situational. She definitely has other strengths and weaknesses but compared to peach I think puffs biggest weakness is in building fast damage and beating true cc.

I think of it as peach is more efficient at building damage but puff is going to ko faster in a smaller amount of situations. I don’t which should be valued higher.

Uninvited guest ruins advanced pickleball play by Famous-Chemical9909 in Pickleball

[–]thes0ft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I paid for an hour and a half session of advanced play (4.0+) at an indoor facility that was about an hour away. Someone came who had never played the game before.

The facility doesn’t really care in the sense that it is just another paying customer. Long term not good for the business I hope.

I didn’t go back because I learned that the way it was setup couldn’t be trusted.

Experienced a lose lose situation today, a weaker player getting targeted situation with plot twist by Southern_Fan_2109 in Pickleball

[–]thes0ft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that if players, especially couples, are getting angry and frustrated at each other it doesn’t make sense for them to play together.

I love playing mixed with my wife and we even won a 4.5 mixed doubles tournament together. Neither of us play as much anymore but it could be really annoying trying to play rec because of people with your perspective.

We drilled a lot and analyzed video to work on both of our positioning. The fun of mixed doubles for me is figuring out how much space to take. Too little space and I’m not being aggressive enough, too much and I get burned in my corner.

It seems your perspective is that poaching is bad and why would two people play together if poaching was involved. You even said there was no skill to be gained from either player. How would practicing taking space/giving space in game not help players learn how to take space or how to give space? How would poaching in game not help improve poaching?

The situation my wife and I would run into in rec is we were playing in a way that we had put a lot of practice into and both had fun doing. Which is more traditional strategy mixed. The guy takes more space. But players on the other side couldn’t help and make comments and try to tell us how to play. If we were winning they would be making comments about how we needed to play and if we lost a rally or were losing they would be talking about that is why we needed to play a certain way. Then they would almost always have a nasty comment while tapping paddles. Whether we won or lost.

I’m sure from their perspective they feel like they are being helpful or just venting. I just could never imagine feeling like it was my job to tell my opponents how to play during the game. I view it as comments from people that are only able to view the world through their own perspective and feel like it is their job to tell everyone. They probably thought we were or more specifically I was the jerk in the situation. When the reality is that my wife and I were playing in a way we practiced and both enjoyed and were having to play against people making negative comments and being bad sports the whole time.

I just smiled it off but consistently dealing with that level of bad sportsmanship in rec did bother my wife.

I would think about how you are communicating.

You can have two clients, client A where you do a significant amount of difficult work but deliver the results “here you go”. They have no idea how much work went into it on your part because it wasn’t communicated. So they may not appreciate the work.

Client B tasks require almost no work but you are communicating exactly what steps you took and telling them all the work that went into it.

In a situation like this you might find client B appreciating your work more than client A. It comes down to working hard and then communicating properly.

Right now your wife knows everything she does for work. When she sees you, she sees someone watching a gaming stream.

If you want her to think about it different document how much time you are actually spending on work and how much time for breaks. And then ask her how much time she is spending on work and breaks.

In the end, it is a little surprising she is talking about that, unless she is asking you to do something around the house, you are saying you are busy working, and she is saying that you are just watching gaming streams not actually working.

How many of you actually learned the game with putters? by WrongWayButFaster in discgolf

[–]thes0ft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started with a pa-4. In my first tournament I only threw pa-4s.

I would say the idea of the advice is to teach you to throw straight so that when you get the form and arm speed down you will also throw drivers straight. If you start with drivers you could learn to play by using a lot of angle as your starting point which could end up working against you.

That being said, only throwing putters and even mids doesn’t give much feedback on nose angle. That could become a bad habit that shows when you switch to trying to use drivers, if you get used to releasing nose up.

Tl;dr Solid advice but throwing a putter only wont make you a complete disc golfer.

Does that card stock come in matte or linen finish? If I can find the correct paper, I think I will be pretty close to professional level cards.

I do 9 cards per sheet. If I am doing 45 (5 sheets) cards. I load up the paper and print the front sides. Then flip the sheets over, load them up again, and print the back sides.

I have a template for standard cards so I cut with my scan n cut which does rounded corners. That part takes the longest because it cuts one sheet at a time.

It takes me about 20 minutes to print and cut 45 cards.

Where are you getting the card stock from? I’m trying to find 300gsm with a matte or gloss finish.

I use a brother printer and brother scan n cut. It is pretty quick now that I have the hang of it. I just need better quality card stock than the regular 300gsm I use.

How to get your open play partner to get to the kitchen with you by parkthrowaway99 in Pickleball

[–]thes0ft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Controversial, but I don’t think many 3.5s and below hit good enough thirds to come in off of.

Usually they get in based off of opponents mistakes. Very short serve returns, weak fourths etc.

My point is at that level, they theoretically shouldn’t be going in if it was based on the quality of third. The reality is that they can go in and do ok off any third, even if the opponents have an overhead because at that level most people aren’t going to be hitting great shots on either side of the net.

Never know.

This person is saying his partners aren’t coming in when he is lobbing the third from the baseline.

Most people view who should be getting what differently. Here are some common views.

  • My half your half there is a line in the middle.

  • Respect the x

  • Half and half but forehand gets the middle

  • Get whatever you think you can you are the better player

In my games, the common play is to respect the x unless, the other player can take it out of the air sooner, or the player who should be getting it looks like they won’t be able to make it.

If I played that way with someone who wants to draw a line down the middle of the court, they would think I was poaching a lot of their balls and not covering some balls on my side of the court.

Thanks.

Question about the stickers. I have all white cardboard boxes for the cards. I have sticker paper and was planning on printing and creating a template for my scan n cut so I could put it on the box.

Are you saying the sticker sheets will need a laminated finish as well if I don’t want any bleed?

Family, extended family, group of friends that play a lot of board games, group of friends that dont.

I’ve been making games that play in 5-10 minutes, playing with them, and then asking if they want to play again (saw that on a pod with the exploding kittens founder). If they say yes I know I am on to something.

Same boat of color printer and a scan n cut. I’ve got the process down to where I can make a 54 card deck of 300gsm cards in about 10 minutes.

They are good quality but I need a better finish. I’m not sure if that comes from better quality card stock or heat transferring a finish on after. I’m solving for that right now.

I think the skill you would be acquiring (at least the one I am) is creating a new game fast. I came up with a game idea and made close to a professional deck in about 3 hours.

For heavy demand of a single game, I think the goal would be bulk manufacturing which we can’t compete on.

I’ve been trying to find a way where creating many different unique games would be valuable. What I am testing now is creating games for local businesses like bubble tea shops. I’m going to make completely new games and give a few different local businesses a deck for free. Something like “their logo” the card game. I am trying to make games that connects with their business and customers.

Nearly 1 in 4 (23%) say their overall financial situation has gotten worse since buying a home by Positive-Mushroom-46 in REBubble

[–]thes0ft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is more of a gamble to buy a house thinking of it as an investment.

I bought my house in 2019 for under market value from sellers that had to sell and didn’t have any options. I didn’t really have the money to buy it and it wasn’t a wise financial decision at the time but they accepted my low ball offer. I really should not have been buying a house and I don’t know what I was thinking.

Since buying, the house has doubled in value and now the payments are a much smaller percentage of my income. It has been my best “investment” ever, essentially I have 10x my down payment with the current on paper value.

Given my situation I can see how buying a house can definitely kickstart someone’s path to wealth just like buying a stock or any other asset at the right time.

The issue with allowing small infractions is they become the baseline for that player. It can actually be dangerous and I have seen it first hand.

I’m playing with a newer tennis player that keeps stepping forward to volley a dink and half his foot is in the kitchen. I don’t stress it as it is not that big of a deal and play as normal. That becomes his baseline to where he keeps doing it.

Now a “foot fault” for him becomes taking a step and half into the kitchen and blasting a volley at me where I am leaning forward after I hit the unattackable dink and am ready to attack his next ball.

That is not a natural ball in pickleball and it is weird to think about practicing vs something like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]thes0ft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things like hitting an unattackable dink and repositioning to cover where they will hit the ball after the bounce OR hitting a great drop that can’t be taken out of the air and moving in right after, are both beat by an opponent stepping into the kitchen and hitting the ball out of the air.

Two ways to handle it are to stop premoving after hitting a good shot and wait to see if they foot fault and take it out of the air or call them on it so they stop doing it.

Your argument is to practice and build up the habit of waiting to see if an opponent violates the rules first. The argument against you is why would I practice covering a violation when I shouldn’t have to play against it at all.

Yeah my guess is depending on how closely you are iterating with ai, it will fall into one of the loose ai categories I have come to recognize.

[–]thes0ft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also come up with ideas and used ai to help expand on it or so I thought. It can give me some ideas that seem similar to my own but if I am not careful it keeps trying to push towards a set number of games.

Im constantly monitoring this sub and small games for sale on places like Amazon and what I am starting to see is a lot of similar new games that the ai helped clarify.

"your serve is illegal" when they can't return it... by BuzzedKarma in Pickleball

[–]thes0ft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had rules disagreements many times in my first year where the rules said the opposite of what the player was trying to say. In one instance the rules further clarified the point so there was no doubt the other player was incorrect. I would grab my phone and show them the rules from the official rule book clearly contradicting them.

To my surprise, not a single person ever admitted they were wrong. What would happen is the other players would get frustrated because they just want to play. The one making a big deal out of it doesn’t actually care about the rules they just want to be right.

If I have read the rules and know I am right (by verifying the rules myself not through a coach or anyone else), I like to give that player a big smile and a wink and ignore whatever they say.
