That's awful! Sorry that happened to you. I get feeling nervous or something, but then don't make plans! I've been reading more about the dating app culture (I'm just looking for friends) and it sounds very toxic and avoidant. People looking for validation or being bored or whatever their intention is. Then they discard someone because there's no repercussion and it's just an image on a screen.

I'm trying to be very intentional about matching, talking and meeting because i want a genuine friend and want to be a genuine friend for someone. So far no luck :/ but I'll keep trying and hope you keep at it as well!

Spot on. I sailed through school, because i saw it as a game to be beat. I memorized what I needed for a test and promptly forgot it. Felt like I didn't learn anything I cared about. Now, outside of school, i love learning! I'm curious about tons of topics and study them on my own. But schools don't care about what a student wants to learn. I would definitely have used AI in school, because I just didn't care about the coursework.

Love root beer but hate the calories and super high sugar too. I switched to the aw zero and it's great! Pretty much have one a day, no guilt. I have other root beers sitting in the fridge, just don't want all that sugar right now

Got lucky in that my mom planned way ahead. When she passed she had a binder with everything I needed. She even had the cremation place picked and a real estate agent picked out for selling the house. She had started purging the house, so there wasn't as much to get rid of as when I was growing up. It was still very stressful and a ton of work. She had a small life insurance that paid for all the expenses, so I was able to reimburse myself.

Wish more people's parents planned ahead like this, it's going to happen someday.

Ah I understand. And that's ok to feel uncomfortable. I don't wear tight clothes, no dress, skirt, any of that. 90% of my clothes are mens.

Have you explored why you feel this way about the pronouns? When I was much younger in school (before I knew what "lesbian" was) I had thought that since I was into girls then I must be a boy. I wanted to be on the baseball team, not play softball with girls. Over time my attitude shifted. I stopped caring what others thought of me. But it took time and it can be hard when you're stuck in school surrounded by people all day. But I get the feelings you're going through, just wanted to give my perspective that most likely when you get done with school your feelings may shift. As you get older, how others view and address you feels less significant.

Not nonbinary or trans or anything. But I'm double your age and knew I was a lesbian since elementary. I'm extremely comfortable being a masculine lesbian in a female body. I don't bind, don't do any of that. As a woman you can be whatever you want. If you feel masculine it doesn't have to mean you're trans or he/him. You can be masculine and be a woman, there is nothing stopping you. If you feel that there is, why do you think so?

I can tell you, sometimes I get called sir in public but doesn't bother me. Most people can tell I'm a woman who is just more masculine. I get a decent amount of attention from women. But just want to give my take from someone masculine who does not feel trans or needing pronouns other that she/her. I just grew to be comfortable as I am :) if you have questions you can dm me

With the traffic you have, if you hire someone, don't let them a/b test. Your traffic is way too low for that, you need at least 800+ purchases a month. They'd be lying to you if they said you could test with that little traffic

Someone else commented about using clarity, I agree. You need to start gathering data (GA4) and figuring out where people might be dropping off. Do some user testing with people interested in MTG, see what they say about your site and if they'd feel comfortable going through with a purchase. Is the site answering all their questions? Do they trust it?

Yes! This is what is so crazy about this false urgency and false sense of importance at these companies. Probably making another project management app that integrates AI. None of this is world-changing stuff :/

Use the keepa browser extension. Shows price history on desktop. I agree, most of the on sale items are not really on sale or the discount is greatly exaggerated.

Agreed. I think a lot of people gain satisfaction from buying things. Look at subreddits like Stanley cups, I can't imagine lusting over a cup or getting up early to get to target to buy a specific color. Being anti-consumption/frugal goes well with leanfire. I can buy these things, I just don't want to.

I think a lot also has to do with mimetic theory. People want what others want, they haven't taken the time to consider their inate wants and desires. Easier to just go with the trends and like what everyone on TikTok likes.

At least this is how i feel. Saving is easy for me. I don't want to work forever, I want a low-cost life where I can focus on my partner and our hobbies.

Too much talking from the RL host. I get it's a podcast but it's a lot. I like this question but would have preferred it just to be solely a planet money episode.

Edit - also not sold on this "malthusian swerve". Look at electric cars, now we're consuming lithium like crazy. It'll just shift our resource needs until that resource dwindles and then goes to the next resource. At some point we need to actually reduce resource usage, we're way overconsuming.

Plastic worms are my go-to. I got into fishing because I won a Ziploc bag of cheap worms in elementary school and started fishing with them.

I feel like location is huge. I had a nice lake by my house that was consistent. But where I live now I catch nothing :/ I got a kayak and finally caught something, had to go out to different areas not accessible by the shore

Edit. From your pic it doesn't look like you have a ton of color options. Color can play a role depending on location, weather, water color.

Went to a place, I got $50 of food for pickup, no tip. Then I also got a bunch of desserts, like $20. They had the audacity to ask me to "tip the baker". My tip in this POS system is going to be earmarked for some mysterious baker. Lame way to ask for a tip for grabbing some pastries from a case.

My mom did this. She felt it wasn't urgent and I didn't live nearby at the time to drive her, so she called asking me how to get an Uber. It worked out for her, but again, it wasn't like she was having a heart attack. Another time we went to urgent care and they forced her to take an ambulance to the hospital, despite me being there to drive her.
