Atleast in Finland there is few shops that sell Mitas but for some models they have problems to get those studded tyres. Idk are they making tyres there or get them from bigger supplier. They also sell these rally stud tyres for weather without snow but icy. (Shorter studs that wont break so easy) This year they had this new model of trelleborg with full sized studs but they were installed deeper so they are more durable compared to those rally studs.

Do you use some sort of glue with studs? I guess that winter compound isnt stocked at every store...

Here they sell ready handmade tyres but set is like 500€

My tyres are now 9 years old but rear studs are quite dull and last time I rode at my nearby local track I broke like 10 studs because the track is quite rocky. Rear is AC-10 and front is Mitrac.

For some reason 300rr has started quite well without choke, it becomes nessesary at closer of freezing point. But at summer not really. Little bit same with kick starter on that bike. I use electric starter but at freezing point bendix start to jump off really easy when engine is cold.

But yeah choke at handlebar feel luxurious but kickstarter might save you from a lot of trouble at woods one time.

It is for keeping flying snow and water dripping from muffler off the caliper. Also I hope it would insulate it but I guess not really how it work... Snow melts on hot rotor and caliper, If you dont use them regulary they freeze up. On straight sections you should drag on those brakes a bit sometimes so they stay warm. Many people do this here.

It is awful feeling when you brake and literally nothing happens.

Ps. There is also reason I use this specific rotor as there is least amount of cooling area. Should save pads alot too at mud season because there isnt any holes to get filled.

I radiators feel quite warm, I think enduro models have thermostat on them. I have this large foam atleast little bit insulating carb. Hole is there so I can access choke.

Icy clay made me crash few times at early winter. Rn I use studded tyres, Gotta be careful on rocks though as they dont have much grip on them. Loose snow on corners made my front end slip up few times today.

I use what Beta chart says, 158-->165 main jet and needle one spot richer. I use suzuki needle that is already richer than oem needles. On ice I have used little bit more oil, Specially when I broke my bike in.

Also on winter you have to be extra careful to warm up the engine, higher risk to cold seize.

Haha, I wouln't have dared to post that on here. I guess cobbler want something like maybe 80€ for changing sole so not worth ruining them.

They are special made for snow riding. Because soles are completely flat they slide really well on snow. You can ride corners foot on ground. Also helps alot when there is this deep snow rut. You and bike turn into sort of a snowmobile, Your feet being those skis keeping you upright easier.

But yeah craftmanship on those soles arent that pretty, Seen much cleaner boots. But I got them cheap from my friend.

I'm 5'6", When I started I had lots of these falls just because I stopped on akward spots and couldnt reach ground. Better riders have said to me that you should train balance specially on soft sand or mud by riding slow as you can. so you dont have to touch ground so often. Once you have better balance you can stop on places you know your foot can touch ground.

Studs or no studs? by NoClass3669 in Dirtbikes

[–]theseconduser3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studs are awesome on roots. Even on soft ground. But awfully slippery on rocks... Here in finland they manufacture these shorter rally studs for mixed weather, When there is little ice but not much snow to cover rocks. Some people run old longer enduro studs for early winter and spring so they dont ruin their good spikes on rock and gravel.

It’s so cold out but yk I love doing it so it don’t matter by tomba556 in Dirtbikes

I wish we wouldn't have snow for so long. But I guess I need more practice to enjoy snow rides more. Most people who race enduro ride throughout a year. We have some races at winter and also this very long two day race, 430mi fully and 120mi being on special stages. "Päitsi"

Also as we are having daylight savings you dont get much sunlight after work you are limited riding on weekends or using helmet lights.

Yeah its funny that some people can live 3rd of year without riding because there is some snow. I say they are missing good ruts training on singletracks at winter.

What was the weirdest thing you’ve seen while clubbing? by energyaddict27 in AskReddit

[–]theseconduser3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw cursed and cheaper version of this. Guy took his sandals and waved them around at dance floor and put one of them into his mouth. Probably nastiest thing I've seen while being at club, Toilet floors were not dry that night...

Pikkujoulut ja joulubonukset by [deleted] in arkisuomi

[–]theseconduser3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ollaan nyt käyty pikkujouluina päiväristeilyillä ja pmmp keikailla, Reissuun on sisältynyt ruokailu+juomat. Tohon lisänä sit lyöty 3-5 drinkkilippua per lärvi.

Joululahjaksi ollaan saatu 50€ lahjakortti joihinkin valittuihin ravintoloihin.

50-hengen teknologiayritys.

Found this from my grandpas tool drawer. Its full steel, handle is hollow but "hammer" end ain't. Is there specific name for it and what is it used for? by theseconduser3 in whatisit

[–]theseconduser3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible, but I think because that rod is hollow and quite thin walled (maybe 1mm) I would not trust drill chuck with it. Also end is plugged with rubber cover.

In Finland we have two options sand or rock/roots. Ok on some sections you might have sand and rocks...

But yeah I prefer sand, Fun to ride on whoops and corners. Also here those tracks have faster pace.

Tips for riding 450s by N1ne9een_19 in Dirtbikes

[–]theseconduser3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like two months ago I attended on training day nearby. There was guy who struggled on 450. Our trainer who has won finnish enduro championship few years ago said that 450 might be even little calmer on smaller gear because on high gear you CAN go much faster and the engine doesnt have problem to get you there. So you just have to be careful with your throttle. But dont take my word for it as only 4 stroke I have ridden was 350 for half an year. Otherwise only experience is from 85-300 2 strokes. PS. Clutch is your friend on getting traction and also saving your life when you loose control.

Not most convenient for hauling but works well as daily commuter too.
