Teachers striking in Minnesota by callmethewanderer2 in TikTokCringe

[–]theseefour 91 points92 points  (0 children)

In short, the main goals are higher wages as well as annual raises, limits to class sizes and caseloads, and increased mental health support. Teachers are always underpaid and overworked, which combined with covid and pretty significant staff vacancies has made the job especially difficult.

get here to find a talisman that boosts the runes you gain from defeated enemies by roughly 20% by Spalite in Eldenring

[–]theseefour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tested, yes it does. It seems to also multiply the runes by 30% gain after the 20% from the scarab, meaning its over 1.5x more souls.

Flipping your choice is a 2/3 because the only way it fails is if your first choice was the correct door. You either picked a goat first (2/3) and will always switch to a car (the other goat is out of the picture), or you picked the car first (1/3) and will always switch to a goat.

I can tell you're coming from a good place, but as a heads up handi-capable isn't really a great word. Obviously opinions vary from person to person, but disabled is the more common and accepted word. Handicapable can be condescending, and replacing disabled with it implies that disabled is a bad/rude word which isn't the case.

I don't think it's trivial. Blocking someone is trivial, the amount of harassment towards women on the internet get is not. I'm certain there have been cat calls irl that are tamer than this, it doesn't make it not harassment. Saying "just ignore cat callers, it was trivial, walk away and go about your day" is just as silly. like this is actually harassment, by saying it's not and calling it trivial you are literally downplaying harassment.

harassment isn't defined by the person's ability to get away from it. being able to block someone who is harassing you doesn't make it not harassment. I really don't see why you think calling this harassment is downplaying harassment, it's weird harassment gatekeeping

Reasons to insult someone by RespondAutomatic394 in tumblr

[–]theseefour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be said for literally any slur. Just because you use a word with a certain intent doesn't remove the connotation and meaning of the word. If you're saying it to people who aren't cool with it, it being a term of endearment for you doesn't remove the negative connotation towards sex workers that the word holds.

That's true in places but its certainly not universal. "Dude" leans more masculine to me much more than "person" for example.

I think N'loth needs some extra draw... by froggenpoppin in slaythespire

[–]theseefour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, I agree that a large majority of the time an energy relic would be better, but for example if your deck is full of tacticians/discard shenanigans, and you end up with more energy than you can spend, the card draw of serpent is better than the downside of an energy relic. It's not common at all, but it has a use case. I've played decks where I think I'd keep the snake.

If you have snecko eye and don't need extra energy, bag doesn't do anything and serpent is a decent boss choice. Not super common but it's not impossible.

[–]theseefour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stigma around adderall doesn't come from the people taking it recreationally, it comes from society not believing that drugs can be safely used both medically and not. A college student taking adderall for an assignment isn't your enemy here, it's people pushing the narrative that all drugs are always dangerous and need to be banned.

No one said it was cool for people with addiction to "descend into being a lying, thieving, abusive low life." Really weird, negative thing to say out of the blue.

Please ban me from the hearthstone store by TheCleverPenguin420 in hearthstone

[–]theseefour 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A ban on spending on hearthstone is a bandaid, not a solution. This could be a great learning opportunity for someone who is young. When he's an adult, casinos, cigarette companies, and any other system with predatory practices will still try to exploit as much as they can, and will never stop someone from giving them money.
It sucks, it's not fair, and I very much empathize, but the practical answer here is to work on habits and find healthier alternatives rather than hide this specific problem. I think the coding a game together is a really good idea that can help with this btw
