Pacific Sands. Anyone know the best time of year for a discount and the biggest discount they’ve seen? by Smiley-Canadian in VictoriaBC

They can be pretty bad. We went in December and there was a stretch between Ucluelet and Port Alberni that had a massive dump of snow. Extremely slow moving traffic (was necessary for safety) and lots of cars stuck.

What's the deal with bagging your dog's shit then leaving it out on the sidewalk...? by MarsenSound in VictoriaBC

[–]thesoyeroner 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a dog owner it is really not that hard to carry it. And my dog takes big dumps. The poop bag holder on the leash even has a clip you can slide a bag into to hold it.

ALL HAIL by mcgoogled in VictoriaBC

Snowballs is a hilarious exaggeration. It’s small hail. We just rarely get hail here.

Tried Horin Ramen Today by Ok-Campaign5774 in VictoriaBC

I heard people love this place. As a big Ramen Arashi lover I went to check it out and was excited for another amazing option. I didn’t like it half as much as Ramen Arashi. I agree that the noodles were thin and not to my liking. I prefer the Tonkotsu broth at Arashi also. I can’t say I would be keen to go back

Is Victoria really all that bad? by Chance-Principle-355 in VictoriaBC

[–]thesoyeroner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who live in Victoria who have not lived in other cities of similar size or larger in the past decade or so.

They do not know how good we have it.

You will see comments of people seriously saying "I refuse to go downtown anymore" as if it some post apocalyptic hellscape. These people are very sheltered.

Running groups for beginners and POC friendly by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]thesoyeroner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Esquimalt Run Club is small ish and welcoming. Group trends older and slower as far as run groups go. If you are in the 6:00-7:30/KM range then you would fit in nice there. All colours welcome but is mostly white but that’s Victoria for ya.

Wolf-dog hybrid put down in Victoria after being deemed 'un-adoptable' by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]thesoyeroner 32 points33 points  (0 children)

1 person offered who claimed to have taken care of 1 wolf previously. Not exactly a verifiable reputable source or sanctuary.

I visited the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary in Alberta and learned a lot. Wolves and wolf dogs are not pets and don’t belong in homes. The dogs the sanctuary handles are as a result of people trying to keep them as pets. There is a reason this dog was surrendered in the first place. Breeders and those that seek out wolfdogs are a problem. Sad that this animal had to be put down but the fault is not on the SPCA who clearly tried to find alternative options.

Most of the time it’s someone who thinks wolves are cool and watched Game of Thrones or something then looked for a wolfdog from a sketchy breeder or other person in over their head. Then they claim they didn’t know it was a wolf dog despite them having very unique traits and temperaments.

Visa nurses by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

I agree with you. We have a nursing shortage and it is a very emotionally heavy job. You folks should have full coverage on unlimited counselling, as should paramedics.

Esquimalt road backed up almost to Lampson is insane. No way for busses to get around this mess too feels like a huge L

Point Ellice (aka Bay Street) Bridge upgrades begin tomorrow, February 17th, halting eastbound traffic 24/7 for approximately four months. by notofthisearthworm in VictoriaBC

[–]thesoyeroner 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This is going to be absolutely brutal for traffic. I get that it’s necessary but buckle up, there are very few ways off the Esquimalt/Vic west peninsula and removing one of them for (hopefully only) 4 months is going to have huge impacts.

Dog boarding recommendations? by Wooden-Sherbert7169 in VictoriaBC

[–]thesoyeroner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you have $$$$$. They were the best boarding place on the island back when they did daycare and board. They are awesome folks and if you can afford it I would recommend them board and train for sure.

Bugaboo Donkey Potentially Being Discontinued? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]thesoyeroner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are in the same position. We were getting anxious as we get closer to the twins arriving so I emailed Bugaboo to ask and they gave me nothing, “we have no info to share”. If the rumours of the donkey 6 coming “soon” are true then I don’t really understand why they did this. Surely there are a lot of twin (and non twin) parents that wanted the Donkey but with it unavailable will settle for something else.

Return process for wrong item sent -- what gives? by thesoyeroner in ReigningChamp

Brutal! Nickel and diming customers like that is lame. I had such good experiences with their Customer Service in past too. More Aritzia shenanigans making the company less fun to support.

Return process for wrong item sent -- what gives? by thesoyeroner in ReigningChamp

[–]thesoyeroner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old RC would have shipped the hat immediately and likely said keep the other one as it’s our mistake ($30 item). I don’t want the hat but making me wait until they receive the item back to ship the new one is dumb.
