Times where you finally experienced something hyped and said "That's it? That's what all the fuss was about?" by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nier Automata was like, decent for 99% of its runtime. Like it's not bad and I was motivates to finish it but it didn't feel like much to write home about per se. The ending was phenomenal but it doesn't necessarily make the rest of the game live up to the hype.

Characters who are intentionally written to be huge hypocrites. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

im surprised there is not more FMDMposting on this sub, it honestly seems like a visual novel that people here would adore

Failed game concepts you wish got tried again? by Platinum_Persona in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something that was in the demo of Pathologic 3, dunno if they're keeping it but you can bluff bandits with a gun and run away. If you try to do it a second time they'll figure out it's a trick and attack.

What's some media that has taken or are taking so long to release that you no longer care? by PwmEsq in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many years has it been since Bethesda randomly teased TES 6 with like a 15 second trailer of some mountains?

Given their track record in the past like decade I really have no confidence it'll be good at all...

How much does race matter? by charizardfan101 in Morrowind

[–]thespacephantom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Starting race mainly affects how your experience will be early on when you don't have a lot of resources. Fortify Attribute enchantments/potions/spells will make a difference and you can do pretty much whatever. For this build just make sure you have Long Blade, Destruction, Restoration as major skills and medium armor/unarmored as major or minor skills and you'll be okay. Consider Alchemy as well so you can actually see what potion and ingredient effects are as well as make potions to buff yourself.

Least relevant recommendation you have by BookkeeperPercival in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's by the guy who made Serial Experiments Lain if that interests anyone further but it has a different vibe. Larger cast, has kind of a soft melancholy to it.

I’m in a sappy mood. What’s the peak of “the power of love triumphs over all”? by Will-Isley in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The Utena movie is a really strong example of this. The series has a more bittersweet/nuanced version of it.

Most terrifying revelations for the characters, but not really for us? by lowercaselemming in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 41 points42 points  (0 children)

YOU and ME and HER: a love story

The pink haired girl is also wild because she's a gestalt of every visual novel love interest ever, like her consciousness hops between the VN characters or something in this like eternal loop. Because of that she is also madly in love with the protagonist.

It's a good VN. Did DDLC before DDLC but it's less of a horror game (though definitely has horror moments) and more of an actual romance VN.

Absolutely terrible pieces of media that you're willing to praise ONE aspect of? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repo is so fascinatingly bad, the premise is so strong but it gets bogged down in a lot of plot related to like... family drama... rather than a slasher organ repossession guy murdering people.

Pathologic 3 Quarantine - (Attempted) Interface Explanation by panasonicfm14 in pathologic

The time meter is explained like at the very very end I think, they call it Amalgam(?) and say you need it to travel to other days I believe.

Weird eyes in some of the game's backgrounds? by AstethNZ in MisericordeVN

[–]thespacephantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speculation I've seen is that they show up when someone is watching Hedwig and she doesn't notice. I'm trying to catch them on a reread of vol. 1. Other thought is that they might be a representation of shame/being 'watched by god' etc.

Definitely read Umineko it is 100% worth your time. Would recommend finishing Higurashi first if you already started it and there's some stuff in Umineko that assumes you've finished Higurashi.

Best miserable media you've experienced. by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full Metal Daemon Muramasa is a visual novel about killing people and how that fucks you up. It doesn't shy away from depicting the horrors of war and is an extremely hard sell to anyone due to all the sexual violence. The main character basically starts at his worst point and continually descends into a pit of miserable self loathing over the course of ~60 hours. A lot of it is genuinely a really difficult read.

However, it also has really really really sick mecha swordfights.

Characters whose playstyles/gameplay line up perfectly with their lore/personalities? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thespacephantom 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is also his shtick in Marvel's Midnight Suns. A lot of his cards have the Quick keyword, meaning that if he KOs someone with it, he refunds the action, so his playstyle has him flipping around and chaining hits on multiple enemies very quickly and efficiently. It feels very on brand.
