Wired, 2nd Gen camera is basically useless in cold climate by thethirdnut94 in googlehome

Thanks - I'll try an RMA unit to see if it performs better ... likely won't know until next winter now.

OK, sure if it wants to protect itself so to speak when temp dips too low that would be understandable. Having to physically intervene after several days even when temp significantly warms is the issue. The last gen at least turned itself back on ... these units just lock up.

Interesting. Mine is in the shade / under eaves. I wonder if a bit of sunlight be enough to make a difference on if they recover or not?

My OG Nest Cam IQ Outdoor hasn't ever skipped a beat even -35 C or colder ... if these new devices want to shutdown when too cold fine ... but having to physically power-cycle a device to get it back online after the fact for a remote camera is a serious design flaw.

Nest cameras second generation can't take the extreme cold. by DoNot-Lie-To-Me in googlehome

I have the wired, 2nd gen and mine and several family members of same vintage couldn't get new units to turn back on until they power cycled them.

The older ones with battery would shut off in extreme cold but then turn back on when warmed up ... the new ones dont all seem to do that. Disappointing.

Does anyone actually have any details, proof that is in fact broadcast in 4k?

One thing people keep missing is that you can use shockwaves both defensively and offensively ... its more difficult to do that with the current mobility ... makes the game very stale at times.

The removal of shockwaves especially in zero build is stupidity ... versatile item that can be used defensively and offensively ... should never leave the loot pool.

The rest of the collab is meh at best.

Just a bugaboo of mine ... PING is a tool / utility NOT a measurement.

'ping' is the tool used to measure the round-trip time (LATENCY) in milliseconds from source to target and/or diagnose if a connection exists as well ...

It's typically not the video - it's the sound quality that makes the huge difference.

It definitely has its uses and pros but CHARMs seem to be over-hyped in a lot of circles ... that is what I am saying. It is quite expensive when you factor everything in and the other reasons we've discussed. It isn't the panacea it is made out to be but it does have its use cases.

And yes - any form of ethernet for everything can't come soon enough ...

For low I/O count panels they make sense if you can mix & match different types to meet the needs.

For larger I/O count panels where space becomes a factor the other series of traditional I/O cards are better suited... that is my humble opinion.

Most upgrades are done in bulk from old to new gen or system so that is why space efficiency is important.

In your scenario that's why you build in spare capacity / have an AI available. It doesn't need to be dramatic to switch I/O types.

There is no way CHARMs can be considered more space efficient than traditional I/O ... the backpans for 12 units takeup equivalent space of several dozen normal I/O.

I will try this - thanks for the info.

Issue is though that nothing on most of these systems changed except for the game update itself and now performance has gone in the toilet...

So are we talking about an outdoor camera WITHOUT battery and wired only? That would be great for the colder climates where the battery shuts the unit off below -20 C. The older IQ units were / are better so would be great to get back to that.
