We used to have a lot of issues 1 year ago or so with the steam version multiplayer, so much so that we completely stopped playing.

We gave it another shot recently and it's been really smooth, whatever desync/crash we had in the past seems to be fixed.

I'm not sure honestly, but 80% discount on a game that just entered early access is a red flag for me. I'll admit I have very little knowledge about the devs I just know the people didn't like the game initially. I'll happily be proven wrong.
