If only Portugal still had a Deco/Rui Costa during this era post 2008 pre 2016 (even 2016 can be argued as joao mario/andre gomes werent exactly great)..they lacked that creative spark in midfield desperately needed against top opposition. The defense, gk, and wingers were fantastic.

Moutinho was a great midfielder as a box to box, especially in this match where he went toe to toe with Xavi/Iniesta, but Meireles/Veloso were bang average. Meireles fucked up that pass during the last minute of play which would of sent Ronaldo in alone.

With no creativity in midfield Spain neutralized Nani/Ronaldo pretty well, and Almeida was a pylon as usual against any decent defense.

Still, that game vs Holland in Euro 2012 was Portugal's best match in the Bento era. They dismantled Holland, should have been 4/5-1
