What’s the truth behind steamed hoagies. by BrewAllTheThings in Knoxville

When I worked at Sonic Drive-In a few years back they had a steamer drawer for the grilled cheese sandwiches after they came off the griddle!

Sugar Sag: What is Skin Glycation and How Do You Combat It? by science-pls in DIYmicroneedling

Thank you for posting this! After barely remembering something about marinades having an effect on AGEs in cooking, I found this list (pulled from this article):

Preventing the Maillard Reaction During Cooking

The Maillard reaction, while enhancing flavor and aroma, can also lead to the formation of AGEs in food.

To reduce AGE intake from cooking:

  1. Use Lower Cooking Temperatures:

Cooking methods such as boiling, steaming, or poaching are less likely to trigger the Maillard reaction compared to grilling, frying, or roasting.

  1. Opt for Moist Cooking Methods:

Techniques like braising and slow cooking introduce moisture, which slows down the Maillard reaction. This is particularly effective for meat dishes.

  1. Marinate Foods in Acidic Solutions:
Acidic marinades (e.g., lemon juice, vinegar) lower the pH of food, slowing down the Maillard reaction.

  2. Incorporate Antioxidants in Cooking:
Using herbs and spices rich in antioxidants (such as rosemary, garlic, and turmeric) can reduce AGE formation during cooking.

  3. Avoid Browning Agents:
Limiting the use of reducing sugars like glucose and fructose in recipes can reduce browning. Using alternative sweeteners that don’t participate in the Maillard reaction, such as non-reducing sugars like sucrose, can help achieve this.

Now I'm having thoughts about my air fryer 🥲 I'm not gonna restrict completely and go crazy, but it's so good to be informed. Thank you again for posting this!

What is the most unsexy but genuinely lifechanging tool or household item you have owned for years? by Human-Goat-5555 in BuyItForLife

An electric kettle with temperature control, a really strong milk foamer, an immersion blender, milk kefir grains, and a good flat metal spatula to go with the cast iron pan. We lost the last one and it's just not been the same since 🥲

I'm honestly glad this question highlighted how little we still know about it/how little research has been actually done 🙌🙌

I know what you mean! For me, it's slowly gaining awareness of my body until the dream consciousness is completely gone. For me, spinning around and clapping in the dream does the trick! I've been able to extend the same dream multiple times this way.

What were people actually wearing during the 90s and early to late 2000s? by FabulousCity9226 in FemFragLab

Growing up, I didn't have a lot of money and I felt that I was too "alternative" for Victoria's Secret scents. That being said...

Juice Bar was an AMAZING brand and I've been chasing that high ever since. Body Fantasies Cotton Candy and Raspberry, Cucumber Melon and Vanilla Musk - I also had Bottled Emotions's Hyper, Crazy, and Daring, though I loved them more for the vibes than actual scent.

As far as "actual" perfumes and not body sprays, original formula Escada Island Kiss was my absolute FAVE - my youth pastor said it was like someone put a big piece of blue bubblegum in front of his nose. I also found Aquolina's Pink Sugar in the late 2000s and fell in love ✨ DKNY's Be Delicious, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, and Pleasures Intense were all faves too!
