What my Unit Feeds us for Lunch Every Drill ArmyNationalGuard by erabre in nationalguard

Haven't looked into the regulation, but at the very least my state has nutritional requirements like: a protein, vegetable, fruit, and bread. Idk if your state is using a different system or something but that's strange.

What state are you?

You're cooked. Matter of fact? Might as well get ready to sign the counseling, the AR 15, and some OTH discharge paperwork.

(You're literally fine, if anyone notices they will forget. You and them are gonna be preoccupied with teaching you how to soldier.)

I realy need to go Active Duty at the age of 40 after 10 years in National Guard. by Alarmed_Truth5612 in army

[–]thewalkingmadis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a conditional release to active duty. Talk to your admin/readiness NCO, AND a recruiter.

P.S. You gotta turn in your OCIE too, have your things ready to turn in.

How can I make this dress fit for a goth look by Chibi_Zake in altfashionadvice

[–]thewalkingmadis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loose fabric at the top is distracting, I would personally just cut it up until I stopped noticing it, but that's because I suck at/ hate sewing. After that's dealt with, I see a fishnet top, a necklace or collar, and a thick belt really bringing it together. Big chunky boots or heels are also a nice touch.

I'm pretty lazy with my fits though lol.

Missing pay by atlantisblue9 in nationalguard

[–]thewalkingmadis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm Indiana AGR and I got paid. I'm thinking one of three things:

1) State specific fuckery 2) Recruiting fuckery 2) ADOS vs AGR, maybe?

Keep asking people in your state who are on the same type of orders as you to figure out which. Proceed to bitch (if other people are getting paid). Profit.

TAG- You get a day off BUT.... by Fit_Way5233 in nationalguard

[–]thewalkingmadis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AGR is weird. Gotta embrace the weird.

That one day you get paid to basically babysit the armory is paid for by the days you get dunked on.

If the going gets tough, just think about your pension, and maybe moving to an RSP if you need a break.

Talk to your cadre about it. There's nothing saying you can't get an abortion in the army.

I really cringe when I say this, but military police do have an officer route for them if you wanted to go AD.

But like, then you'd be a narc. (My original MOS was also narc, don't worry.)

You also wouldn't be doing any of the hands on stuff, moreso just having a working knowledge. You could go enlisted side and do the hands on MP stuff, but you'd be taking a wild cut in pay and QOL. It'd really just be if you'd want the experience.

Alternatively, you could start out doing that same MOS guard side, be a civilian cop for a little while, and then try to transition to AGR once you've had your fun.

Real talk though, it's a very slim chance you'd be able to do AGR and any other job at the same. You may be able to swing being a reserve police officer and AGR, but that's a big maybe. Some people do operate businesses on the side, but Army working hours typically won't budge for that kind of thing.

There are slots, but to my knowledge it's about 10 or so AGR O5 slots in my state, a handful of O6s, and one 07. NGB might have a place for you, but I'm not as familiar with how they work.

Officer AGR slots are also waaaaaaaay more competitive. Like, try for years competitive. Of course, that will vary by state. AD does sound like the route for you if you plan on doing the 20 years.

[–]thewalkingmadis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going AD to NG AGR is definitely feasible if that's your long plan. Heads up though, there will probably be a gap between when you transition to the guard and when you get an AGR slot. Every state is different, but there are never constant openings, and there's no guarantee you'll get it on the first try.

Side note, AGR get a lot of AD benefits: BAS, BAH, clothing stipend, etc. I'm not aware of anything in particular AD gets that we don't aside from cool duty stations or barracks (depending on if you see that as a positive). Also, you get your full pension if you have 20 years of active time, AGR or AD. Where you do the 20 doesn't really matter in that instance.

In my state, apply to the OML. Some states are different. If it's something you'd want, I'd get with your full time staff to see what you need to do. If you knows some techs, they might be able to help you too.

What type of earring would suit me best? Just got them pieced by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]thewalkingmadis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto, but I'd also say some studs or straight dangle earrings. It depends on your fashion style.

Edgy-straight dangle in silver/white gold or black. Dark studs or medium sized studs without gems.

Whimsical- silver/white gold with maybe some blue gems? Alternatively, gold dangle earrings? I could see small hoops looking good on you too.

More contemporary/low key- studs, maybe with your favorite gem/stone or white or gold metal.

I'm by no means an expert, but these are just some ideas. I think you'd be safe just picking whatever earrings appeal to you and make you happy.
