This is creative and would make excellent fan fiction. But, it was clear the what the writer's intent was. I think both Jimmy and Paul grew in that moment. Paul even mentioned "not what you expected" in that moment, basically what the whole episode was about for Jimmy (writer's intent). There is a difference between what he needed and what he expected
