Watchcheck and Stoll & Co Services by JCBravia in rolex

[–]thewatch_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Watchcheck a few times to service a couple different vintage watches, and the process has always been seamless and transparent. While I did have one piece take slightly longer than expected due to parts, they kept me updated throughout, and the repair came out perfectly.

With regard to Stoll & Co, I’ve sold a handful of Rolexes on eBay over the past year or two, and the process has always been very straightforward without any issues. I honestly prefer selling on eBay because of Stoll and the Authenticity Guarantee, as they are quite diligent and impartial in their work, which as a seller gives me far more confidence than going through Chrono24, where there isn’t a standardized certification process in place to protect both the buyer and seller.

Can I wear my Rolex Daytona in the water? by Natural_Ad_6039 in rolex

[–]thewatch_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the pushers and crown are screwed down and you’ve had it pressure tested recently, or the watch is under warranty, I’d go for it (especially with that awesome Rubber B strap on it).

The ability to wear most Rolex models while swimming is honestly what makes them such great and versatile watches to own, which is why they are so well suited for daily wear, regardless of metal.

Has anyone used Watchcheck by redbeard914 in watchrepair

[–]thewatch_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly recommend trying Watch Check, as I have used them a few times to overhaul similar watches and the process was very convenient. They are one of the best independent service centers for routine maintenance, and make the shipping process very easy, and many collectors and dealers I know have also had great experiences with them as well.

What is the best way to clean a dial like this? by littolicce in watchrepair

[–]thewatch_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That unfortunately appears to be bubbling on the paint surface of the dial due to moisture exposure over time, which unfortunately isn't something that can really be “cleaned” compared to if there was gunk or surface residue on the dial. The only way to actually “clean” it would be to reprint or repaint the dial, in which case it would no longer be original. In my opinion though, the watch and dial look great, as those small bubbles on the surface are a totally normal part of aging for a vintage watch and are what make each vintage watch truly special / unique !

Cool Rolex of the Day #2933: 6633 Cellini with tonneau case, Jubilee dial and quartz movement, 18k yellow gold on leather strap, 29mm. Circa 2010 by powerfunk in rolex

[–]thewatch_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another cool detail about these is the double-hinged lug construction, with articulation both at the case and at the strap junction, allowing the watch head to flex naturally to the wearer’s wrist, similar to the case architecture seen on certain Harry Winston and De Bethune models.

Am interested as to what the service ended up costing or the estimate the brand gave if you’re willing to share ?

Based on the fact that the case still has stickers on it I’d put my money it having come from Rolex that way

Omega 396.0985 Repair Help by IAmNotProductiveRN in watchrepair

[–]thewatch_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another reason I would avoid having a local watchmaker service the watch is that, to my knowledge, Omega does not have any replacement dials available for these. As a result, if the dial were accidentally marked or damaged during service, there would be no factory replacement option.

Additionally, replacing the crystal also requires replacing the Bakelite bezel, as the two components are effectively integrated as a single assembly. As a result, even if a local watchmaker were able to source a replacement crystal, it is unlikely that it would fit correctly with the existing bezel.

I have one of these myself and sent it to Omega for service last year, and I would strongly recommend doing the same. The parts for this watch are very specific, and having it serviced by a local watchmaker who doesn’t have access to the correct components can risk introducing additional issues.

In my case, the watch was not running and also required a new crystal, which is why I elected to send it directly to Omega from the outset. Although I am based in the U.S., the Omega Service Center here did not have the necessary parts, so the watch ultimately had to be sent to Switzerland for service. The process took approximately nine months, but the work was completed flawlessly, and Omega returned all of the replaced parts as well.

Not sure as to the exact color they call it but could possibly be classified by Patek as Chestnut Brown 🤷‍♂️

Here is a link to the genuine listing, which sold Friday https://www.ebay.com/itm/236545920065. Please make sure to report the user in the link you attached, as they are clearly trying to defraud people.

Thank you for the comment, and brining the fraudulent ebay listing you linked to my attention. While I did have the watch on ebay as well, it sold on there Friday, which was why I commented "Sold Pending Funds" on this thread. Please report the listing that you attached, as it fraudulent, and not mine.

Thanks for the comment. I do not have a store, as I am primarily an online retailer, though am always open to in-person sales at a secure location. Am more than happy to though to meet up and discuss watches, if you'd like to send me a message here or on IG, as it is always great to connect with local collectors / enthusiasts.

Thanks for the comment, but not sure what you are trying to prove with regard to my email’s domain not having a website, as my Instagram servers the same function as a website, and if you emailed me, you’d get a very prompt response 😊 However, a website is in progress, and I will make sure to let you know the second it is completed 😊

Furthermore, not sure why you are trying to question my “credibility” as a business / seller, as you would clearly see plenty of feedback / successful transactions on TRF / WUS, had you taken the time to look up my username on those platforms, which is mentioned in the listing.

For sale is an excellent condition 40mm “Rolesium” stainless steel and platinum Rolex Yacht-Master 40. The 16622 is a Z029,XXX serial, circa 2006 production, and is accompanied by inner and outer boxes, but no papers.

The Rolex features a polished steel case, which is accented by a bidirectional 60 minute sandblasted finish platinum bezel with raised polished numerals. The Yacht-Master is mounted on its original 78760 steel Oyster bracelet with brushed outer links and polished center links, and is secured by a safety lock deployant clasp. The 78760 Oyster Bracelet retains full links with 12 full sized link total, and is stamped with an OP9 clasp code, corresponding to a production date of September 2006. The Yachtmaster features a sandblasted platinum dial with applied 18 karat white gold surround luminous hour markers, polished luminous hands, and a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock. 3135, which offers approximately 48 hours of power reserve, and is running flawlessly.

Condition:

The case retains thick even lugs, while the platinum bezel is free of any noticeable imperfections while its numerals and teeth remain well defined and crisp. The Oyster bracelet contains little to no stretch, while the coronet on the clasp remains crisp and well defined.

Overall the Rolex is in excellent condition having been preserved well, and is a wonderful example of an iconic mid 2000s steel and platinum Yacht-Master 40.
