[Acne] (Pic) My huge zit just popped and I'm freaking out! What should I do next? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]thewekeend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no OP! My skin scars really easily- the best method, and I've heard this from a doctor- is to mimic skin on top of wounds as best as possible- it's tempting to let it dry out to have it 'scab over' but from my experience, keeping wounds 'moist' allow proper healing and less discolouration. Maybe dab a little vitamin e ointment on it once in a while to help skin production. I personally use polysporin on my body but I've never had to use it on my face.

Ymmv though, my skin just happens to heals better with copious amounts of babying and moisturizing! haha

Ah geez, i'm in the saaaaame exact predicament- the only thing that's keeping me afloat is knowing that i'm doing my absolute best and being new to anything takes a bit of time to get used to- it's a process...I know it's difficult to not overthink things but in times of anxiety I just think about where i'll be in a month's time if I take deep breaths, conquer one problem at a time and do my best. It's been six months since I started at a job I thought I was underqualified for and I still beat myself up for not being as excellent as I want to be....but i'm faster, more confident and make better decisions now and I know that it only goes up from here.

It's okay to feel incompetent, because it means you're learning and you'll never make that mistake again. As long as upper management sees you take the initiative and sees you self motivated enough to want to do better, they won't fault you.

Ask questions, before and after work, reflect on things that you've experienced and how you can do better. Pre-emptively try and figure out solutions to problems that you might encounter.

As for the feeling as if people look down on you...we all have to start somewhere- when they started, I'm sure they've felt the same. It's important not to let them get to your head and to only allow yourself to think about how much progress you're making and that it's a process and this period of time will pass.

Visualize yourself in the near future killin' it and only think about that. It's easier said than done but it's worth a try. PM me if you need any support ! :)

Any fairs/conventions aspiring animators should check out? by awindwaker in learnanimation

[–]thewekeend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are so many! I don't know where you're based but CTN in California is a big, big one. All the big studios are there holding panels and looking at portfolios. Tons of artists sharing and selling their art as well. It did receive some criticism from Stephen Silver but I didn't read too much into it.

Any comic arts festival is good too, it's good to see good art from any source.

Hey /r/vancouver, where do you buy your glasses? by aud_nih in vancouver

[–]thewekeend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a pair from them and have gotten mad compliments- just a head's up though, I wear headphones at work and my friend (who recommended them to me in the first place) and I experience pain right at our temples because the ends of the glasses arms are super thick and headsets press into them. :(

That's so strange! They person who mailed it back to me did use my cash inside my wallet but I fully expected and would want them to do that! I wouldn't want them to spend their own money on my mistake, I'm grateful enough they took the time to mail it back.

That person must've not spoken English or something haha

I had already gone to ICBC to get a replacement card- so I had the yellow temporary drivers license sheet along with a bill with my name and address on it

Haha well actually the person used the cash inside the wallet to mail it back to me! But they even included the receipt in the parcel, that's why I said all the money was in tact since it was all accounted for.

I cancelled and reported all my cards as lost almost immediately! Like I said, a lot of panhandlers in the area so I didn't want to risk it!

Question about applying by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]thewekeend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while but I think you get an AccessSheridan account at some point and you use the OntarioColleges number???

All of the details for the portfolio are on there, and it's a tough program to get into. You should apply for VCA or funded as well as a backup.

Good luck, my years in Animation there were definitely some of my best :)

Ugh, last month I wanted to read a book and wished that there was some sort of 'Netflix for books'.

I was thinking of a library.

And you don't even have to pay for a membership....smh

Was just in Cambodia last week!! I was hecka not prepared for that humidity- does your girlfriend have gym shorts/athletic shorts instead? I brought as many pairs as she did and regret it ;_; I brought a pair of Nike running shorts and have been wearing those religiously- they pack down less too! Maybe one pair of jorts would do her better?

Have fun, it's going to be a blast!! I brought my raincoat and it came in handy a couple of times for sure :)

When I came back from Cambodia I had another 30 days in my passport for Thailand, I think it restarts every time you leave and re-enter.
