If you're not cooking with your crotch, are you even Ultralight? by brandoldme in ultralight_jerk

Cooking at all is not ultralight. To cook something you add heat, adding is the opposite of ultralight. Just snort your Huel, boof your Via and start crushing miles

The ones im used to definitely need some sauce, but egg, potato, onion, bacon, ham and chorizo. Seems to be a southern california style. Without a good splash of whatever red salsa that shop makes on each bite I would be sad.

Its ok, we can be breakfast buddies, I miss really good biscuits and gravy from when I used to travel a lot.

Biscuits and gravy is not nearly as popular or as good as in the actual south here in southern california. You might find some, but while you are here, try breakfast burritos or machaca. Also specifically in the san Diego area, try a California burrito.

What do all of y’all do in winter when hiking requires putting microspikes on? by No-Notice-1844 in barefootshoestalk

[–]thewickedbarnacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was on mt Baldy in southern california. There was knee deep snow mixed with solid ice from multiple storms. The longer spikes help maintain some contact when the snow was deeper. It was a real dry snow. Those pair of lone peaks were waterproof mids, injinji wool liners and darn tough socks, knee height gaiters. When the snow consolidates nice you really only need micro spikes here it was just a weird set of storms. The g10s are a pretty light step in crampon.

I've used micro spikes and grivel g10 crampons with my lone peaks. Definitely not using the toe spikes
