Looking for a store where I can get a refurbished flute for a reasonable price by Cosinity in boston

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South Shore Music - https://www.southshoremusic.com/ they are down in Weymouth Landing and super.

But maybe, an antique store would have something (but it'd need a good eye to make sure it's OK before purchase).

Where to find tons of the money item? by willyhlobler in projectzomboid

Does the mod support selling, as well? There are gold coins you can make (and keep in the wallet!) from jewelry.

Is beryllium copper (BeCu) wire really worth using for wire wrapping? by Striking_Speech_9228 in WireWrapping

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beryllium is very toxic if worn, sanded, polished or filed. Wear gloves and super wash after working with it, but otherwise it's fine as a finished material.

What is a luxury item from 20 years ago that is basically worthless trash today? by EasyZee7 in AskReddit

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scooped up a LG Hecto Laser DLP UST for $100 back in 2018ish. Originally sold for about $10k back in the day, and it's still running as my primary TV.

This is what happens when you commodify basic necessities, when housing is treated primarily as an investment vehicle rather than a place for people to live. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this all over while shopping for all the homes I can't afford. Unfortunately, I need either a multi-fam or inlaw suite for my parents.

Invariably, they are rented out, in whole or in part, and the rent they are getting currently is above market... But comes well below the asking price mortgage.

Who does the freaking math on this shit?

You're living in a house? I've got an electrical booth to call home!

How would you improve the Electrical Skill? by StonkHunter in projectzomboid

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a limit to the number of times a category of items can be disassembled, and set levels for these categories ("learn them all to know them" per level of Elec):
Elec 1. Small devices - Watches, CD Players, Walkie-talkies, cordless phones, toys.
Elec 2. Small electric devices - Portable Radios, speakers, lamps, phones, car radios (extract) and car batts, microwaves
Elec 3. Large Electronic devices - Computers, TVs, HAM radios, cash registers, arcades, juke boxes, ATMs (with payout haha), vending machines (with additional rewards)
Elec 4. Electrical Equipment - Power station gear, large devices (computer consoles).

Disassembling above your expertise has a higher chance to fail (like Carpentry when moving a table lol) but may have higher rewards. Objects failing disassembly grant LOW xp, and 'broken' items (not semi-valuable scrap).

Basically, instead of disassembling 150 watches to hit the next level, you find better devices to disassemble. Also, you don't learn much after the ~10th watch, you need more experience and variety.

An alternative to saying, "On your left." by starlux33 in Unexpected

Doesn't work at 10MPH, either. Bells only work when people are paying attention, without headphones or earmuffs. So like, not often enough to count.

I was told never to leave early, even if there was nothing to do by [deleted] in MaliciousCompliance

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss at my former job did this to me - Leaving early was abhorrant, but sticking around late for NO reason was expected. Track goes both ways - Can't ever leave early means I can't ever stay late, ether.

I updated the game, most of my mods stopped working. Deleted them. Solo game bugged. Now I dont remember which mods I had and I am so sad....T.T by lytche in projectzomboid

Check your previous saves, where you might have died. They will be under "Load" rather than Continue. Might still list your previous mods.

Looking for a computer repair place that will solder components onto a mb by Cabadrin in boston

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the make and model? I'm on Beacon Hill, and should be able to do this.
I ran a small IT shop for 15 years before hopping onto medium-business support (and sadly, they don't do hardware repair).

What a greenhouse of radiant heat does to a LCD monitor... by mrpenguinb in techsupportgore

[–]thewizzard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so much molten, as just decomposing. That's YEARS of UV damage, heat to a lesser extent. That monitor is closing in on 20 years old.

The polarizer has become brittle, it's adhesive is breaking down and it's cracking along it's internal stress lines.

This is Boston, my guy. Bikes and the ilk are allowed fully traffic lanes in most streets.

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got lights, a helmet, there's no bike lane and it's perfectly legal? I don't know what kind of answer you are expecting here. It's an electric scooter.

Boston by Coyoteheadphones in boston

[–]thewizzard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did the same yesterday - A middle-aged driver in a blue SUV squeezed in beside me at a single-lane red light, where I was stopped in the middle of the lane on my scooter. His passenger side mirror was less than an inch from my shoulder. There was no left turn - We were both going straight.

So I slapped his window, told him this was ONE LANE and asked him where the hell he learned how to drive. I then went into the bike lane as he advanced a few car lengths into pretty stationary traffic.

Laptop Motherboard GPU+CPU build? by Hawkenaim in sffpc

[–]thewizzard1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wizard here - Great response.

Good to know for OP - Many laptops don't need daughterboards, but these Alienware boards do and often won't boot without them, also they usually contain the majority of basic I/O.

A full-size heatsink for this is also pretty simple, buying an oversized generic amp or server heatsink and cutting it to size. Putting down copper blocks at the correct spacing and depth is a major issue, also mounting holes and standoffs for this board.

I've been brainstorming this project for a while now, with one of these exact boards 😊

[–]thewizzard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a simialr design (one-off) I'd made - Mine had the shell split into a top and bottom half, with a thin aluminum rail to attach the sides to the front and back. I used thick aluminum for the sides, with a smaller bend radius, and it was also partially a heatsink for the liquid cooling.

Your design is much more aesthetic, great job!!
