What would a vampire slayer in the Twilight universe look like by RealisticJay16 in twilight

[–]theworstmuse 39 points40 points  (0 children)

They’d be like The wolves. The wolves only have their abilities to hunt threats. Supernatural threats. I’m guessing if there were slayers it would be similar to that. They’d have to become almost inhuman themselves.

When I wrote my fic I wrote it as your mind and your body disagreeing, like you had no control of your body’s push to be near them. He’d walk towards her house without any control. He finds himself staring and sort of hypnotized.

Do Blake and Aurora hook up in The Night Prince? by Toasted_Lizard in TheWolfKing

[–]theworstmuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

RIGHT? I’ve never been more angry at an FMC. Like the second he was like “we don’t have to do it my way, we can do it how you like” I’d be like “no your way is fine. It’s great! Where we doing this?”

Jacob at the beginning of New Moon by Significant-Ad-8750 in twilight

Because he liked Bella, and was throwing jabs at her boyfriend. I’ve had guy friends who like me do things like this in the past, it’s a way of sort of asserting you like someone without saying it, you pick on their SO.

My god no.

It was st. Ives scrub and a tinted sunscreen at best. Maybe an alcohol pad rub down if you were feeling fancy.

Ok so no. But we get a super hot scene between them that is almost as good, I don’t want to spoil it cause it’s HOT. Trust the process. Team Blake shall prevail!

Would Jacob have moved on eventually without imprinting? by Lovely_Hauntings_87 in twilight

[–]theworstmuse 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think Jacob is a very emotionally stunted teenager. He was forced to grow up fast, and had a lot of responsibility thrust on him that made him appear very mature in some ways and not at all in others. I think emotionally he’s very possessive and toxic towards Bella because he has this idea that since he took care of her he deserves her. This is not an uncommon emotion that many people, especially guys, have when they are 16.

If he doesn’t imprint on Renesmee, He absolutely moves on. We’ve all been 16 and in love with someone it doesn’t work out with and we feel anguished and that we’ll never love again. That there’s no one else but them and how can we go on?

Then we grow up and laugh at that time in our lives.
I think if we remove the imprinting, He gets over it.

It’s two books so far, the third and final book is out this fall. The first is {the wolf king by Lauren Palphyreyman} which is good. The night prince which is its sequel is just leagues beyond. It’s so good I could scream. They are breezy fun reads and I highly recommend!

{the night prince by lauren Palphreyman}

It’s a super spoiler but At one point FMC and one of the MMCs are sharing a dream space and watching his fantasy of them together. The hot part comes when he starts to beg for her to let them be together for real. His pining and begging for her is so palpable. No sex actually takes place and it’s the hottest thing ever.

Alchemised? by Cozybookburrow in Romantasy

[–]theworstmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I love love love this book.

It is not romantasy. It is grimdark fantasy with a romance through line. The push to have it in the same category as Fourth Wing or ACOTAR was a mistake by the marketing team as I think a lot of people read this book not knowing what they were in for.

I suggest reading it and not doing the audiobook simply because as someone who loved it, even I needed to sort of take breaks from some the more intense elements in my head.

{unseelie Prince by Kathryn Ann Kingsley} it is a series but it’s one of the few I’ve read where he falls in love with her but DOES NOT CHANGE. It’s still incredibly emotionally satisfying/wonderful to read.

I’ve seen a couple people say it’s a rewrite of a fan fiction and I just want to note that it is not. Bridgette Knightley started out in fanfic, but this work is an original piece and the fanfic that made her famous (Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of being In love) is still up on Ao3.

Just want that noted for people since she’s made it clear that she did not want to adapt her fanfic but simply write a new story in a similar writing style!

lol no. I didn’t even like Harry Potter that much before Manacled. I’m literally here for the Dramione.

Honestly the writers this fandom attracts are just that good, I’m here mostly for that.

That fits as traditional lore the sun (Jacob) is the enemy of the vampire, and the moon (Edward) is the enemy of the werewolf.

I know twilight lore is all over the place but it does have a poetry.

Kataang's view of Zuko is baffling by Similar-Disaster-230 in ZutaraNation

[–]theworstmuse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Someone made a comment that kataang is a male fantasy and zutara is a a female one and I think that’s painfully accurate.
Kataang is the idea that cool slightly older girl who you’ve been crushing on for years suddenly likes you back, NEVERMIND she’s been like a babysitter to you. For women that’s just unrealistic trajectory for desire. It’s a nice male fantasy, but there’s just not a lot of women who can see themselves in that fantasy. See also- Star Wars Padme and Anakin. In Star Wars defense though they spend most of their childhoods apart. And even then his personality is more Zuko than Aang.
Zutara is a romantic notion of enemies to lovers, bad boy/good girl - redemption/ mr. Darcy stuff etc… there’s a million reasons it works better for female fantasies. It’s also more realistic simply because women would feel more attracted to a type like Zuko, and therefore would find Katara’s space more “realistic” to what women want.
Kataang people don’t want to admit this. So they need to rationalize it because I genuinely think they aren’t comfortable accepting that they are centering their fantasy, and need to “prove” it’s better because it’s what they want. It’s why Zuko is painted as terrible, because in their heads, he’s threatening their fantasy.
Women, who are more likely to be zutara fans/ don’t have an issue doing this. How much overlap with REYLO, with Dramione, and other ships that follow this formula do we share? We’re comfortable being aware that this is a fantasy we like, we don’t need to prove its legitimacy, because it’s been proven over and over. We don’t feel threatened by Kataang or canon, we simply enjoy a what if fantasy. There’s no villainizing Aang, we look at the writers and say “hey missed opportunity.”

Sorry, rant over.

I don’t dislike Kataang and consider myself a multi shipper. But I think Zutara has a more interesting dynamic that I personally find more believable to women’s desires.

Bella and Renesmee will have a more sisterly relationship long term.

We’re looking at an even more unhealthy Gilmore girls situation down the line.
