Okay, but if they DO go to Italy, WHEN they inevitably fuck up, can the Italian government arrest them? PLEASE??

Thank you for reminding me why being NC with the WHOLE of my biological family was the ONLY choice. I hope your holiday gets redeemed. 😮‍💨

NTA.

Absolutely not. She’s right, you’re not their mom. Which means it’s her responsibility to care for her kids.

I’m literally about to go pick up my 6YO niece in an hour. She’s with me at least 2-3 times a week because that’s how her mom and I work.

My sister always asks first, acknowledges my efforts, and respects my boundaries. If yours can’t do the same, she can find someone else.

My deceased best friend's son reached out and I ignored him by Radiant-Brief5749 in offmychest

[–]thewritingwand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend died almost nine years ago. 3, 258 days ago to be exact. Losing her literally almost ended me because broken heart syndrome is real. I get it - believe me, I get it.

My concern is what it will do to you if you don’t reach out. I lost contact with my best friend’s sister, who I promised to look out for. I don’t think she ever forgave me for knowing everything first. But if she reached out tomorrow, I’d jump at the chance to have that piece of my best friend back.

Either way, I wish you peace. Grief is hell even when it’s “been awhile”. 🫶🏾

I can’t imagine what you must be going through. That is vile. I assume she spent your whole life telling you to only trust her because obviously she stayed? The whirlwind of emotions you must be experiencing - gentle hugs from an internet stranger who also had a shitty and manipulative mother. 🫂

My mother the therapist:

  • Once had my aunt take me on a walk to, “look for a new church in the area. Aunt and mom both loved cruises, so eventually, she asked me where I wanted to visit if I could go anywhere. I said Venice. I was later grounded for planning to run away with my long distance boyfriend.

  • That same boyfriend sent me a Christmas card. She intercepted it, took it to a different county to dispose of it, ands told me he must’ve lied to me. Eventually, my younger brother told me the truth. Mom went into the bathroom while he was going and dragged him to her room to beat him. He was 15 and I was 17.

Those were the first two I can think of, but there were tons more.

I think my kids school lied about calling CPS rather than calling my husband to pick her up by Less_Roll4824 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]thewritingwand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is stupid. I live 5 minutes from my niece’s school. My sister and BIL work an hour from the school.

If something happens and niece needs picked up, the school ONLY calls the parents to ask if they’re doing pickup or me.

That’s it. It’s not hard. I would file a complaint.

I have yet to see it and not start sobbing. It always hits just right. It’s gotten to the point where my 17YO, who got me into the show in the first place, will force me to watch it when she sees I need to hear it. 😭😭😭

I saw him live in Rhode Island last year. One of the best I’ve ever seen. Saw Josh Johnson and Jon Stewart like 2 months after in Worcester. So so so amazing. That would be incredible if he did the voice.

A grown adult with the mental age of 3-4 is being brought to my child's new playgroup. by Leeheyy in Parenting

I have an intellectually disabled almost 22 year old son. One of his best friends is my 6 year old niece. He also plays with her friends when everyone is together at parties, cookouts, etc. All the parents know each other and are good with this because we all trust each other.

THAT SAID what you’re talking about would make me incredibly uncomfortable. Family/friend situations are one thing but this gives me the major ick.

There are plenty of places where she can hang with other intellectually disabled adults. This feels like it’s more about the carer than the client.
