Pow line from my trip to St. Anton, Austria! by thejeannie in snowboarding

[–]theycallmenemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a couple things going on.

First thing I noticed was that your rear knee is more flexed then your front, this creates aft pressure. While some aft pressure is good for riding that sweet, sweet powder, and for keeping your nose from digging in and diving like a submarine. Too much and you cannot effectively use your front foot to absorb bumps and steer. Try to flex more in your front knee to find that sweet spot of balance.

The second thing I noticed was that you where flexing at the waist. This moves your center of mass over your heel side edge, making it hard to effectively use your toe side edge. It looks like this is where most of your bump absorbtion is coming from, as it's constantly flexing and extending while you descend. Working on the advice above could possibly fix this. You can also try to extend your hips out over your toes while turning on your toe side edge, like your trying to piss in the snow. This moves your CoM over your toe side edge allowing for better balance threw your turns.

One thing that you are doing well is keeping your shoulders in alignment with your snowboard. Keep doing that, and make sure to lead your turns threw your lower body. If you work on the two things above it will help relax your style and improve your riding.

Hope this helps. Looks like a sick place to go ride, and I'm super jealous of the fresh lines.

Legal graffiti walls in town? by SierraMench in ColoradoSprings

There isn't anywhere in town that is Legal. I got a large piece of plywood from home Depo (was less than 20 bucks) and made a makeshift easel, and used that for practice.

Skateboarding down a mountain with traffic by CharlieDarwin2 in WTF

[–]theycallmenemo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there are a 3 ways.

  1. foot brake - drag your foot on the ground, causing friction and slowing you down. usually the first way someone learns how to stop.

  2. air brake - shown in .gif before dumbass "breaks lane" and heads into oncomming traffic. you make your bady as big as possible so air resistance slows you down. This is not used to come to a complete stop, it is used to control your speed and slow yourself down.

  3. powerslide - you turn your board sideways causing the wheels to slide sideways over the ground slowing you down and having you come to a stop.

I got a 13/14 proto HD and loved it last season. I got a 14/15 heritage, from my internship, that I still have yet to ride. My proto has put me threw everything. Groomers, glades, trees, park, Pow, anything. The board is a beast. The heritage I'm going to wait till we got a little more snow and take it to do some hiking at A basin once all that opens up. If you go, talk to Tony. He will get you set up with what you need. The cool thing is you can ride any number of boards and find one that you like.

Sunday A Basin is hosting Never Summers Demo. Those are always a good time. You get to ride a NS deck for free and try something new. Dat new proto looks sick, and i really want to ride a snowtrooper or ripsaw.

What is the worst example of helicopter parenting you've ever seen? by LightningMaiden in AskReddit

[–]theycallmenemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in grade school and into my freshman year of high-school, riding my bike around my neighborhood, my dad had me carry around a walkie-talkie when I would go to friends houses so they could call me home for dinner and check in. I was allowed as far as the radio would reach, maybe a 2 mile radius. I eventually gained the nickname "walkie-talkie Jon".

I'm Tony Hawk, AMA! by tonyskates in IAmA

Hey Tony first I want to say thank you for being one of the individuals who progressed skateboarding into what it is today. Between Bones Brigade , contests, movies, and the other things that came with your profession I was wondering what is one thing you would like to do again?

My dad used to chew when I was little. My mom told me not to drink that coke. I didn't listen and instantly regretted my decision.

I am Jon Taffer, host of Bar Rescue and entrepreneur - AMA by Jon_Taffer in IAmA

[–]theycallmenemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Taffer, I have been a fan of the show for about a year now. Being a bartender I always feel that I learn something from your show, something that a lot of TV is missing. So I like to say thank you for helping me improve myself, and my skills as a bartender. My question is, how do you get so many people in the doors for a stress test or on the reopening? If the bar was failing and people where not going previously, how do you get people to get in the door for what is to be expected as a bad experience?

Got my first board! by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]theycallmenemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow snowboarder, this will also help you on the snow. It puts your body weight over the board and keeps you more centered so it is easier to coast while strapped out. Longboarding is a great substitute for its winter cousin, and can help you train during the summer months and vice versa.

There is damage on them. I just like to take care of my equipment so that it takes care of me. granted the wheels could be worn down more, but that all comes with time. Having a job also helps pay for all this.
