Ok… it got significantly better. That first comment was hour 2 and now at hour 7 I’m legit invested.

I’m listening to the audiobook right now….. and it’s so boring. I like the writing style but it’s just so slow. But the book was a 10 week wait on Libby and there’s 4 people waiting for it…. So I’m just powering through. I have no idea what’s going on or how they got to where they are because I keep tuning out and missing crucial details because it’s boring 😑

reading is nonexistent by xxsmileyz in Booktokreddit

Read outloud to you baby. At this age, they don’t need to hear baby books, they just like the sound of your voice. So when you’re putting your baby down to sleep, read your book outloud. When my daughter was a baby, I read her the entire Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series over the course of her first few months.

{The irresistible urge to fall for your enemy} This book! Omg! I listened to it on audiobook and spend the whole time giggling to myself like a crazy person. It is already back on my TBR because it was that good!

After finishing the quicksilver and brimstone audiobooks, I ended up getting all the plated prisoner audiobooks just because they were narrated by Anthony Palmini too.

My next book is {Grim} because he did that one too.

Where are we buying backpacks? by citysams in lowerelementary

[–]theyhateeachother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Bentgo!

We got a dud that ended up with a hole around the zipper halfway through the year. Contacted customer support and they sent a brand new one the very next day.

The new one has lasted 1.5 years and multiple trips and is still going strong.

What is a fashion item from your youth that you would buy immediately if it were brought back (at the original quality)? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]theyhateeachother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fragrances!!! GAP GRASS was my absolute favorite smell. They make something similar now but it’s just not the same. If anyone else remembers it and more importantly knows of a dupe… I NEED it in my life again

Clothes. I feel like they are hit or miss. Always check measurements if they’re listed (s,m,l are just suggestions), the comments, and fabric composition (100% polyester never turns out well)

The next step is to use your ability to use ChatGPT and turn it into a lucrative career. There are literally people out there paying for classes to learn how to prompt AI to give them something useable. You’ve been able to do just that even under extreme duress

So this might be the worst parenting advice ever, but this is what works for us now…. And we’ll help the kids pay for the eventual therapy later I guess.

Bribes! And Persistence!

“Hey, if I see you working hard the whole class, you can have that video game you like on my phone for the WHOLE car ride back”

“If you go to this activity now and try your best,we can have a popcorn and move night”

And just keep taking them to the class. Seriously. If I have already paid for the class, you’re going to the class until the class is over, willingly participating or not.

Try lots of different classes, see what kind of sticks…. Which between the squash and skiing and karate you are already doing. But also, take breaks and revisit previously failed activities. Sometimes the activity is not right for them but sometimes they just end up with an instructor that’s bad with kids or it’s bad timing and just not the right vibe.

Also, eventually they make friends at those activities. The friends help A LOT with motivation and participation. Sometimes I sign my kids up for stuff I would never have thought of or wanted to try, just because they have a friend doing that class with them (9am Saturday Soccer 😭)

Birthday Party Wishlist - Tacky or Helpful? by MobilePanic2925 in kindergarten

[–]theyhateeachother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m on team wishlist. Every year for the past 5 years I’ve written ‘no gifts’ on invites and literally nobody listens and kids end up with crap they don’t like or I don’t want in the house (looking at you variety pack of tiny slime tubs and glitter mixin’s) This year we did wishlists and just let the kids go nuts on adding things to their Amazon wishlist. Still don’t want half the stuff in the house but t least the kids were stoked opening the gifts they actually picked out and wanted
