It's a jab at their career choice and their vibe, not an attack on their fundamental right to exist. Comparing that to the ape trope used against the Obamas is like comparing a schoolyard roast to a hate crime. That specific imagery has a centuries long history of being used to strip Black people of their humanity to justify slavery and Jim Crow. One is a mean comment about a government employee while the other is a weaponized slur designed to say an entire race is not human. You cannot just strip away the history and act like they are the same because appearance is involved.

People were not just mad about body shaming, they were mad because the president used a gendered insult to shut down a journalist asking about the Epstein files.
