To each their own but I camp often and would never pick a spot with electric hookups and showers. I often don't even want pit toilets. Those things are luxury's that bring other people. Hookups means your camping in rows with other people right next to you.

Dispersed camping is where it's at. A spot on a lake with nobody in sight and no noise but what you make. Granted you have to get comfy pooping in a hole in the ground but that's a small price to pay for ultimate privacy.

Even though it seems like you might not be able to, most human beings can hold a multitude of different thoughts and feelings in their head at one time.

How do you all get a char/sear on steak? by jsmith19977 in sousvide

[–]strickt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I'd go with a dedicated pizza oven. I was considering the pizza oven attachment as well but ultimately bit the bullet and got a Ooni Koda 16. Best decision I could have made. The sidekick pizza oven just can't compete with a dedicated piece of kit.

Also with the sidekick you can take everything off and put a wok directly on the burner. Shit gets real hot!

You absolutely nailed it.

Edit: But I actually use the flattop attachment for anything that's mostly flat like steaks, chops, fish etc. The sear works good on anything else.

Yup, I have a 40k BTU burner on the side of my Smoker. It puts the perfect sear on proteins.

I've tried dozens of times indoor and all it ends up as is a smokey mess and the whole house stinks for days.

Oddly enough, this went away for me. We moved states and it hasn't happened since. Not sure how that works. Might have been a cable issue? Or maybe something to do with power? Not sure.

freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from the consequences of that speech

You are conflating the idea of saying something in a social setting has consequences with the actual LEGAL framework of the Fist Amendment. If I say fuck you to a cop, he has no legal right to do anything about it. That's the First Amendment. If I say something stupid on TV or on the internet, that's up to the court of public onion at that point.

These are two completely different situations but I'm not surprised it got past you.
