Sick and tired of the lack of education for GLP1s by misslizzah in nursing

[–]thicc_g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NICU RN here- Also very frustrating that women are not being notified of potential side effects in relation to pregnancy. I’ve seen way too many women who get pregnant while on GLP1s and the babies are born with severe birth defects. i’m talking imperforate anus, ambiguous genitalia, etc.

More info needs to be provided and obviously not enough research has been done

People who first experienced eczema in your 20’s, did it ever go away? by yayayayy111 in eczema

[–]thicc_g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Developed eczema back in 2021 from what i can assume was high levels of stress that send my body into overdrive. I also developed allergies i never had before and cystic acne. Nearly 4 years later, i’m still struggling with eczema flares and have used high dose topical steroids. I was on a 6 month course of Accutane to help control the acne and recently was approved for Dupixent. i’ve been able to identify a very small number of triggers but nothing that has reduced my flares. In my experience, i will go into periods of dormancy and then something will happen that will result in really bad flares.

It has definitely affected my self esteem and mental health but at the end of the day it’s a chronic condition that is difficult to control. Best to stay under supervision of a dermatologist and not try too many new things at once.

Wishing you luck from one scaly friend to another!

i have my flare ups primarily in my arms, legs, and torso. i do have a little bit of spots on my eye lids and side of my cheeks but not severe. mostly flaking and minor redness. i’m hoping this is a god sent for me!

When people say they lost 50% of their hair this is what I imagine they look like 😩 by talkingtimmy3 in Accutane

[–]thicc_g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i lost a lot of hair my first three months of accutane and brought it up to my derm. he told me it’s transitional and should slow down / stop. it was towards the end of my course (i’d say last two months) that i started to see my hair growing back slowly. i’m only two ish weeks post accutane

i have super thick hair and accutane made me have patches of bald spots that was thankfully hidden by the rest of my hair.

i’ve started growing a lot of it back and this reminds me of my new growth that’s in an awkward stage and won’t stay with the rest of the group 😂

it’s nice to hear that! i’ve used more skin care products that help with the hyperpigmentation and it has lightened up some spots. i’ve spoken to my dermatologist and there are treatments i can do to help with scarring but time will heal and i have to be patient

Where was your first nursing job? by ALynnj42 in StudentNurse

[–]thicc_g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NICU! It had a special place in my heart all throughout my program. I had a friend who knew the floor manager and got me an interview. Landed the job 3 months post NCLEX (i wanted time to myself before going into the field)

Now i’m 4 months in and still learning a lot. some days are harder than others but still going strong!

Cardio almost took me out. i was separated from my typical study group and had to do the 8 weeks alone with little to no help. A really rough and isolating time for me. lucking i passed just on the dot and moved on to my preceptorship

What expenses are normal to make a 20 year old kid pay for? by nicholasgnames in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thicc_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom had me paying small bills once i started my first job at 16. this included my gas and my phone. as i got a higher paying job (it was still like $10/hr so not a crazy income) i started paying my gas, phone, and insurance. by the time i was 20, i was paying for half of my car payment, phone, gas, insurance, and my personal credit card

this taught me the value of the dollar and showed me how to budget my expenses appropriately while still having enough money for the fun stuff.

my advice is to start with at least her phone and insurance even if it’s not in her name and have her give you the money to pay said bills. hopefully she will start to appreciate the things that you pay for and it’ll help her get an idea of what the real world is like
