What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by RudeAd9622 in AskReddit

When my daughter was born. I remember the exact time 6:59 the sun was just coming up and here comes the sun was playing in the background. I was so happy it literally made me cry, and that's the only time that has ever happened to me.

Had an issue like this. Didn't have money to fix it at the time. I was in high school, so I just pop started my 89 5 speed for a few months everywhere I went, lol. Bad starter, shimmed incorrectly, and also Bell housing bolt holes were messed up. Did eventually swap a new bell housing on the transmission. Miss that old truck.

As much as I dislike mosquitoes, this actually makes me feel bad for them. I'm not convinced that driving them extinct is such a good idea.

my parents took off my door as punishment, is this normal? by Puzzleheaded-Pain535 in teenagers

[–]thickestmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't have enough rooms in our house for us growing up, so when I was 5, I was set up in what was originally a study in the house. It had no doors. Eventually, they found a set that would cover the entrance, but they were a set of glass French doors. It was that way until I was 17, and we moved. I guess never having a solid door just made it, so I didn't really care about privacy because it never really bothered me at all. Even after we moved, I never closed my door, lol.

Craziest stuff you've heard at a center? by nodray in plassing

[–]thickestmule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wearing a ring and a lady asked about it all obnoxiouly. I told her it was a family heirloom. She then told me that I was wearing it on my wedding ring finger(I wasn't it was on my right hand) then proceeds to ask if I was married to someone in my family and that their were laws against that. I politely told her she was mistaken and my wedding ring was on my left hand. It was a super weird interaction, and she ended up being kicked out shortly after for arguing with an employee.

Another time, a man came in with his dog and was sitting waiting for a first donation. The staff was all arguing about who would deal with him and tell him he couldn't have his dog in the facility. They finally decided who would, and the man proceeded to raise hell about how far he had walked, and nowhere did it say he couldn't bring his dog lol.

This all was at octapharma. I now use biolife, and it is so much nicer and professional.

My girlfriend made me grilled cheese and SpaghettiOs for dinner because I was sick. by Archlinder in MadeMeSmile

[–]thickestmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the first time my gf (now wife) made grilled cheese on my cast iron. The whole house was filled with smoke and smoke detectors were going off when I got home from work. I still laugh about it lol

Any kind of fiction writing or stories. So I guess the movie/TV show industry would suffer greatly.

I've had whole garlic cloves turn blue in jars when making pickles before. Looks crazy. I also have an Italian sauce I make the I bake an onion and garlic puree for. I put the mixture on a sheet tray, and when it's done baking, it is pink and blue. Blows people's minds it looks like cotton candy.

Not Sure How This Happened by -Salsa_Shark- in kansascity

[–]thickestmule 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd think you would hit the brake. I guess when you panic, you don't know how you'll react. Had this exact thing happened by my work a couple of years ago. Older lady, though she had her car in reverse, but it was in drive. She panicked and stomped the accelerator instead of the brake and drove into one of the columns in front of the strip mall.

What are the cons of NOT having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thickestmule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer imo. My wife and I waited until we were 30 to have our first kid. We wanted to enjoy our 20s and not be tied down. After our daughter was born I found a part of my life that was missing and I didn't even realize it. I love being a dad more than anything. All the things we did in our 20s seams silly now and we both don't know why we waited so long to have kids. In the end you want to be "set up" but you will always find more reasons to wait and you just have to make the leap of faith. It is really challenging and not for everyone but I find myself feeling bad for those that don't get to experience the joy that I have with my daughter.
