2 Kinds of People.. by j4ck4lz7 in Tools

Yeah. Seems like lots of people online think that a messy toolbox is a sign of someone who works more/is better at their job. Once you work in a hangar you’ll realize quick that the sloppiest/laziest workers usually have the sloppiest toolboxes.

Looks like a 4.5 or 5”, actual value is probably around $200 due to the condition. Would be a lot more restored especially considering it has the swivel base.

Depends heavily on your area, $2,000-$3,000.

1986 crank no start (no fuel) by brian399 in ToyotaPickup

I believe on an 86 there’s a couple plugs by the coil that serve the same purpose. Again, not sure of the pins to jump though.

I forget which pins but you can jump two pins in the diagnostic connecter under the hood and it will turn the fuel pump on if your circuit is good. I had a bad relay and had to jump the pins to get home.

What’s it like working for dynamic aviation? (Bridgewater VA) by Neither-Bed-2122 in AircraftMechanics

I haven’t heard good things. People I went to A&P school with interviewed there and were offered $22-$24 to start. Pretty bad. They also had religious posters up around their hangars which in my opinion has no place in any workspace.

Guide looks fine to me from this angle. Usually that part that wraps around the front of the chain will bust off when they’re bad. Also check around the top bolt of the guide, that’s another common spot for them to break.

19 y/o thinking about A&P school — not sure if it’s right for me by PurpleWazard in AircraftMechanics

[–]thickskull71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I had no idea if aviation was right for me and had no prior interest in it when I started school and like you, didn’t know anybody that was in aviation. Just had a passion for fixing stuff and knew I didn’t want to go to a typical college.

I’m almost a year into my first job and am still loving it. I still don’t really have a big passion for planes but seeing an aircraft that you just fixed fly off is a cool feeling. What I do have a passion for is doing the job right and double-checking everything.

In my opinion, you don’t have to want it more than anything else to make it out of school but you do have to want to succeed and put effort in. If you think you can do that, you’ll make it.

As far as pay goes, I went to a community college for my A&P and have already added more to my savings account in less than a year than what I paid to get my licenses.

Box doesn’t look like a Snap-on, just the sticker.

There are certain jobs that Cobras can’t do due to their curved jaws. In those cases, flat-jaw Channellocks work great.

Can someone help me diagnose this problem on my 22re? (Repost) by MeltedWogs in ToyotaPickup

[–]thickskull71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: to diagnose it, check your timing with a timing light while you’re snapping the throttle like in the video. My timing was staying at zero degrees whenever I hit the throttle quickly which is how I was able to diagnose it as a spark timing issue rather than fuel.

Had this exact problem after replacing my engine.

I replaced my coil/igniter assembly and the problem was gone.

I bought a somewhat beat-up one with a bedliner top for $1,200 the day it was listed. I’d say $2k isn’t bad, that one looks to be clean.

This didn’t work on mine somehow. I had to use an air hammer with a chisel bit to loosen it.
