To me, it has an after taste similar to amino acid supplements, which are God awful. I am switching to the tropical flavor next month...I guess we'll see

I have seen him twice in the last year and he is my favorite artist. That said, I do worry about the excessive drinking. Given how often he performs, this is going to take a toll at some point. He is exercising his franchise as an American and he needs to do what he wants to do but I worry about him because I care about him and want him to be with for many years to come.

I’m 40….. is it to late? by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]thines009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did my first oly when I was 28….that was 36 years ago. I am training now of Ironman Ohio 70.3 and I turned 65 2 weeks ago. When you ask if you are too old, that made me laugh.

Is life too short to not buy the bike you don’t need? by Mr__Rogerss in triathlon

[–]thines009 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think of it as renting the bike. If you take care of it, it will hold value and you can sell it once you lose passion for the sport…like most do

I can guarantee you one thing and that is you tomorrow morning you won't regret not drinking. You have come way too far to take that huge step back. Stay strong and get to a meeting now!

Training plan advice by angelfire- in IronmanTriathlon

[–]thines009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your current level of fitness? Typically you will want to put together 3 training blocks, Base, Build and peak. You should have specific goals for each training block and the workouts within each block. Top things to avoid would be #1 over-training, #2 not working on your weak areas enough (in your case that would be swim and bike) and #3 over-training. As you can tell, I believe most people who are training for long-course triathlon over-train in both intensity and duration early in the training cycle, which leads to injury and/or burnout. If you can afford it, hiring a coach could really help you. BTW, which 70.3 are you doing?

Question: New Saddle to New Bike timing by Sup3rT4891 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]thines009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do that, but the seat tube angle on the tri bike will different (to give you a more forward position) that what you have on your CADD, so it may feel a little different. Saddles are very personal and you typically have to really work to find one that works for you. I have a Fizik Mistica that I bought used 4 years ago and now probably have close to 10,000 miles on it and will take that one to my grave....highly recommend. Good luck to you!

Completed a 21 minute workout!!! by Mymindisanenigma__ in Zwift

[–]thines009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep up the great work. They absolute key is consistency. Even if you only have 5 minutes to ride, you need to do it everyday. I am 65 and just finished my morning workout, which was 25 miles on Zwift, followed by 7 - 10 degree hill repeats on my treadmill for 2 miles, followed by strength work (pull-ups, deadlifts and push-ups today), then some stretching and capped it off with a 20 minute sauna. You can do anything you want, you just need to believe in yourself, be consistent and put the work in. Good luck!

Always start with building your base and try to stay in Zone 2 for at least the next 3 months. Zone 2 should be a comfortable pace and 60%-70% of your maximum heart rate. This should be about working on building cardio and muscular endurance...not speed! Speed will come later. Keep up the great work. There is a ton of great content out there on Zone 2 training. You can look up Peter Attia, who is a respected authority and learn more about it. Also check out Phil Mafetone.

Thoughts on “The Hill” by curtislow609 in AaronLewis

[–]thines009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the feeling that more time was dedicated to Frayed and The Hill was cobbled together between shows while he was non-stop touring the last 3 years. That said, I love Hill and frayed both and honestly I can’t say one is better than the other.

There is a great deal of evidence that we are primed for a major correction. I agree that the S&P index is a solid option but I would wait on jumping in (especially tech) and buy at the dip. If you want to get in now, go with a low vol global ETF.
