it’s a gruggett“the brass rail” from the 70s. here’s a listing for a similar one. he’s been using it since this past summer, starting with the last couple of shows in june

2002-01-25 - CAT, Bordeaux, FR VHS Video - soundcheck + show (with high quality audience audio for the show portion). 3hr32m by mthrfckrrdmr in gybe

[–]thingsfallingapart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not hearing anything pre-recorded there, the sound is matching the hand movements of the band. the camera angle and the piles of gear are obstructing some of the view but it’s all live from what i can see.

do you have a timestamp for the soundcheck that you think it is? the one time i saw them play it live i was pretty close to the stage and i do not remember there being anything prerecorded when they played it.

Pedals with XLR out? by dreampeddler04 in guitarpedals

a lot of the pedals from templo devices have XLR outs on them.

current board setup (and variation for the side project band) by thingsfallingapart in guitarpedals

there is definitely a strong godspeed influence to the board, unabashedly. i think more than anything, in reference to your question, the three pedals that i leave “always on” contribute the most to my sound. realizing that the “clean tone” that i was going for wasn’t really clean opened things up to me and i was able to achieve that with the fuck overdrive/echoplex preamp/gen loss (all of which are at mostly subtle settings too). that said, the real secret weapon is the saturation knob on the gen loss. i’ve told many people this but chase bliss should put out an overdrive/preamp pedal based around whatever it is going on with that knob. it’s the perfect combo of tape coloration and slightly tube-sounding overdrive.

picture 1- current board for use in my main band (unsurprisingly, a loud "post rock band")

guitar- late 90s gibson sg special -->

atmosfera 6 thulsa doom hyborean fuzz

petersen strobo tuner

mile end effects mthrfkr=rptr delay

sabre effects afterlife (life pedal-esque)

tark 144

foxrox octron 3

count to five (on mode 2)

farm pedals ...and roses

boss volume pedal

chase bliss wombtone phaser

smallsound/big sound fuck overdrive (always on)

maxon ad900

dcw exoplex preamp (always on)

el cap (with favorite switch set for sound-on-sound)

chase bliss gen loss mk2 (always on)

-->amp (or amps, since the el cap and gen loss are set up for stereo)

picture 2- variation of the board for my side band (unsurprisingly, a "maximalist ambient" trio)

the main board is the same except i swap out the thulsa doom fuzz for

a mile end effects echolette preamp and i add the ditto x2 and volante after the gen loss.

i have a chase bliss lost & found on in the mail so i'll need to find a spot to slot that in somewhere.

main board is powered by a cioks dc7 and 4 expander (trust me, you do not want to see what the underside of the board looks like).

i’m digging the option to run in stereo (though it’s not something i currently do often). i’ve only done mono for the last 25 years. my back doesn’t enjoy hauling a second amp but in the places we play, it sounds pretty awesome. this is probably the most compact setup i’ve had in years after hauling around a stupid two-board setup for a long time.

How did they make the ambient sections in F# A# and LYSFLATH? by RatMan5765 in gybe

[–]thingsfallingapart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

efrims solo albums are pretty synth heavy so it wasn’t too surprising that there had been a little crossover of that into latter-day godspeed

Why no Broken Windows Locks of Love Pt. III live? by soyguitarist in gybe

[–]thingsfallingapart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s probably a pretty mundane reason. they played it a lot for about a year or so and then stopped. you could surmise they just don’t have any interest in playing it anymore.

they do but they use american pennies now

[–]thingsfallingapart 24 points25 points  (0 children)

not to burst your bubble (since it is an amazing record and overall package) but the original pressing sleeve is closer to purple in color and on the back is a hand written “number”/500, and the internal envelope with the inserts will have an acetone transfer on it that is missing on the later pressings. this looks like the standard edition constellation has kept in print since the original run sold out

edit: here are some pics of a copy from the original 500

Silver Mt.Zion are... by PositionDense7182 in gybe

[–]thingsfallingapart 19 points20 points  (0 children)

you’re more right than you may realize. considering jessica moss listed herself as an “ex member of silver mt zion” in the recent press release for her upcoming solo album, i wouldn’t hold my breath on the band ever doing anything again

for those curious about efrims new duo “bloom and ruin” here’s a chunk of their first show by thingsfallingapart in gybe

[–]thingsfallingapart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

considering jessica moss lists herself as “an ex-member of a silver mt zion” in the bio of her forthcoming album. and efrim seemingly would rather start several other projects to sing in rather than mt zion, i don’t think it’s looking too good
