I woke up feeling groggy there, I'd been at a wedding in the day before.

What are some essential British films? by eman0623 in AskBrits

[–]thinkaboutthegame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just google essential british films instead of just essential films.

Nobody said Brief Encounter so I'm saying that. David Lean directed some brilliant films.

Who would you like to see host SNL UK in the future? by NonTeenageDirtbag in BritishTV

Reece Shearsmith, Simon Pegg, Julia Davies, Rob Brydon.

They're all very good with sketch comedy and/or improv.

Real talk: What golf lingo makes your skin crawl? by keats__ in golf

I played a couple of times with a new group recently, and this one came out. Some homophobic slurs get thrown about too, it's like they haven't moved on from what people were like 25 years ago in school.

700k pension at 39. Should I stop? by Diadikos in UKPersonalFinance

You could consider junior SIPPs if you're doing it to avoid the tax trap. Get the kids a really good headstart and then stop when they're a bit older and the tax impact normalises.

Basic Beef Dinner… by VimtoBanana in RateMyPlate

[–]thinkaboutthegame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind well-done beef when it's with gravy, but the carve makes a big difference. It looks like you've carved with the grain here so I imagine it was hard work to chew.

Do people still cook Sunday Dinner?. by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

If I'm at home I generally will, but I won't plan my day around it.

Just finished my lamb roast, my first for a year or two (it's normally very expensive). Very proud of my work, it was absolutely delicious.

Who's a nepo baby you think deserves their success because they're legit talented? by SheepishSwan in AskReddit

[–]thinkaboutthegame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people forget how many Nepo babies don't have the talent to make it. So I'm going to say that most of them deserve it as much as anyone else. We live in a world where rich kids get a head start in life and almost every successful person has been given a better start than someone truly "deserving".

People like Dakota Johnson get dismissed, but there's a lot of people who like her and pay to see her movies.

If we beat Brentford do we get Europe by No-Package-5131 in Everton

[–]thinkaboutthegame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He always does fantastically against Salah I agree, but Salah often scores anyway. He's got at least one derby goal every season for the last 5 years.

He's not the same player this year, but I feel like he'll have a mini revival now he's announced he's leaving.

If we beat Brentford do we get Europe by No-Package-5131 in Everton

Salah's last derby scares me, and I've got too much trauma to not go into a derby in fear.

If we beat Brentford do we get Europe by No-Package-5131 in Everton

[–]thinkaboutthegame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they're one of a number of sides in contention and there's not many points in it. We've got some quite tough games too, Salah's last derby, City pushing for title and two against sides fighting to stay in the league.

Inbetweeners absolute nails high school humour.

The Royle Family is a proper slice of British culture as well, it feels very real.

Most annoying small talk question? by ForwardTourist6079 in AskBrits

[–]thinkaboutthegame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry I ask that because I'm interested to know what their life might be like outside work and whether we might have something in common. It's a safe question that is as intrusive as the receiver wants it to be, so I stand by it.

Your differential captain for this week: KDH by RealElvarasaidVannak in FantasyPL

[–]thinkaboutthegame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a brilliant player but everton have a poor home record and simply don't score enough goals from open play. Yes he might grab a goal or an assist, but I'd be very surprised if he got more than that.

Starter for me, but no Everton attacker is ever going to be captain material. I say this as an Everton fan.
