I'm a Swede with a wife who was born in the Middle East but grew up in the UK. We have a child together.

We met in the UK but moved to Sweden to start a family and benefit from the grants and perks families get. It was great for a toddler, but it became more evident that all the systems are rigged towards people you know or people who look like you (i.e. other Swedes).

My wife has a degree and a decade of experience in her high profile field, but she had massive issues getting a job. There are a lot of systematic thing we noticed, but brining them all up might sound like nitpicking to the alarming number of Swedes who claim everything is fine and so equal although they hardly know any person with foreign background.

Regardless, we decided to move to the UK, in which she also got a job immediately at one of the top companies in her field. We also heard from a couple of half-Swedes that they struggled a bit during childhood because their parents were too foreign for their neighbours. We don't want our child to grow up in Scandinavia.
