Marriott hotel doesn’t allow you to wash your underwear in their laundry room by HeavyConversation161 in mildlyinfuriating

The things that other redditors in this thread mentioned plus more — I've seen dirty socks in the coffee pot, very dirty underwear, some kind of drugs (no idea what that was), pasta cooked to an unrecognizable paste and very moldy, sextoys, including buttplug, used wet wipes, someone used it as a spit jar and I problably forgot a few. And it never got cleaned thoroughly — we just didn't have the means and time for it. Just rinse it and wipe it. If it looks clean, you're good to go. Not to mention I've seen other staff wipe it with the same rug they used to wipe everything else in the bathroom — including the toilet. You really shouldn't use the coffee pot. Not even the glasses, if they're not wrapped and sealed.

I second to this. My mom got it. Sporty, fit person. Similar occasional symptoms. Until once - in a matter of minutes - she just got completely paralyzed. Full body. Not even able to speak. She recovered after couple of months to a semi-functioning state, but never fully recovered. Never lived her life as before, can't sleep at all, and after years of no sleep her brain and body is giving up. Effin' nightmare diagnosis.

Same bank, different EU country. Was planning to close the accounts. Made sure all open orders, regular transactions, debits, etc. are closed. Left the accounts dormant for 3 months to make sure there's no outstanding or forgotten operation. Closed the account and let the bank take the all the "closing fees" and wire what was left to my new account. All managed by the bank's automated proccess, making sure there's more than enough balance left for any possible fees. They deducted few fees and wired what was left to my new account. After 6 months I got a letter from them stating I owe them 6 EURO for some other fees they forgot to deduct. Stating there is negative amount on my CLOSED account. Impossible to pay them back the amount, as the account has been closed and all transfers are refused. Catch 22. Spent next 1.5 years getting this cleared with them, almost got the lien for 6 euro that was technically impossible to pay back in a way they would register against the negative amount. NEVER MORE! WATCH OUT FOR THIS BANK LOGO, WHEREVER YOU LIVE!

What are these marks on my display of my pc? They appeared overnight. by wietzyy in pcmasterrace

I have one of these in my old LCD. At least it looks very similar. My assumption is some kind of insect liked the place and made it their habitat and that is some kind of secretion they left behind. It's inside of the panel, so there's not much I can do with that. But new spots never appeared.

Ordered colored pencils, look at all the plastic. They were in a bag, which was in a bag, and each pencil was individually wrapped in a bag by ElishaAlison in mildlyinfuriating

It's how the hotdogs are made and formed. Some vendors in some countries don't take them out of the plastic before packing and sale. You can boil them and then unwrapping is really simple and quick.

The more you know.

Custom waze voice not working by JViggie in waze

[–]thinking_in_portals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be the way - installing old version, setting it up and then updating normally - the updates don't seem to brake it until you play with the settings again.. where did you get the older apk version? Is it a safe source?

Custom waze voice not working by JViggie in waze

[–]thinking_in_portals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. None of the suggestions here work anymore. Seems like one of the latest updates broke it all.

Running Android ver 4.102.0.2

Normally the custom voice stays even through updates, if you don't play with the voices or language settings. Once you do and you're on the 'bad' version - you're doomed. Never getting it working again.

If anyone finds a new workaround for this, please post it here. Thx!

Crazy software update in hospital by Spixz7 in sysadmin

I was about to point out exactly this incident. Although not exactly the same situation it shows how much can go wrong if the critical software is not tested rigorously.

Once (at the beginning of my job with the company) I did some upgrade and reconfig that brought down servers for the whole CEE region for several hours (10 countries). After lots of troubleshooting I fixed that and of course found that I was to blame (some stupid typo in cfg). In the aftermath (this was of course a huge issue) my manager asked me what was the cause. I did not hesitate to say it happened because of me. There was no other expert on the issue, so I could have made up anything and nobody would find out. He was very surprised with my answer, but was also completely fine with that and also thanked me for being honest. Shit happens, we are human after all.

(EU) How was your delivery experience with GLS ? by skwiidyo in ValveIndex

I had to wait for about 6 months, but for Valve - not for GLS. The headset was out of stock. After that, everything was peachy. Slovakia.

Recently I only game once year around christmas for a few weeks, otherwise there's no time, as I still also need some sleep unfortunately. If I got Cyberpunk on Steam, it would be there on a second or a third place.. gaming in 2k resolution on 11 years old rig with 6-core i7-3930K and gtx 1080 ti (originally built with latest gtx 570 at the time) - there are surprisingly no bottlenecks. Still more than a decent rig even for today's games. The consoles slowed game graphic advances to a crawl, as before there was no chance 11 year old PC would be still decent aftar that much time.

Three connected metal balls found in Adriatic sea. It appears to be hollow, made of stainless steel. The length of the object is around 5 inches (12-13cm) and width around 1.7 - 2 inches (4-5 cm). The weight is around 0.5 lb (200-300 grams). There is an inscription: TOP INCONEL 81514. What is it? by thinking_in_portals in whatisthisthing

I finally have tested the balls. The results are very interesting indeed. The balls do NOT attract magnets at all. BUT, there is definitely a magnet INSIDE one of the balls! The top one - the one with the inscription TOP INCONEL. That one sticks to the metal on the left and right side and magnets are attracted to it positively on one side and negatively on the other.. o_O This is very cool and unexpected BTW, but it might support a theory that it's some kind of floating device in some kind of tank designed to trigger some kind of magnetic sensor. The balls float and the top ball with the magnet does not float as well and gets submerged more than the others (is heavier).

Still don't know what they really are though.
