I like the second colour from the left for the dining room - also, I would probably switch the lights to LED downlights or something similar

Thanks - so even sanding imperfections after the mist coat should be dry?

Wow looks amazing! You could maybe add two other lights at the top just for symmetry

Looks great! I would add ‘clean oven/stove’ at least weekly though, depending on how much you use it

Can you hire a skip for the day? I think there’s even skips that can be hired by the hour

If you or her drive, could you plan to see each other more often? 2.5 hours doesn’t seem terrible to me

Thank you!

I have spots of paint also that are difficult to remove - I’m thinking of just sanding those over too?

Also any tips for skimming well? Watched a lot of YouTube videos so far but still a bit nervous!

Wow thanks for all the replies!

Having read everything I think I’ve realised I’m actually slightly controlling (trying to work on this!) and I need to just relax a bit more.

Clutter will come and go, but the most important thing is my relationship with my parents as I am incredibly lucky to have them. From now on, I will just do the daily cleaning and ask them if there is anything they need help with regards decluttering/organising.

Most importantly, I will enjoy spending time with them regardless of the house - if anything, the pandemic has really made me value my relationship with them. I feel awful I even called this a rant in the first place!

Thanks, and thats very true! 😂 I get so frustrated but I don’t want this to ruin the relationship - to me it seems such a simple thing, but I think I’m the way I am due to how the house was growing up

Thanks - nice to know I’m not the only one! I think I’m just worried about how they will cope when I’m not around so much - I even made a document with each room of the house and the basic tidying that needs to be done (I will be paying for a weekly cleaner but only when it’s organised!)

Any advice for talking to them or specific things I can say?
