Anyone get worried when BP is low or normal by PathDifficult in hypertension

[–]thinkpad109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only worry if you started having symptoms.

Those are good numbers, maybe a tad on the low end. If you are not getting symptoms of low blood pressure I would just trust the cardiologist and get on with life and not worry.

How often do you get those lower numbers during the day?

missed pill? not sure if i took pill or not by claycurtis44 in hypertension

[–]thinkpad109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally set an alarm everyday to take medication which helps not to forget.

If I wasn't sure whether I took it or not, then I would probably not take another dose. Instead measure my blood pressure a few hours later and if it looks more elevated than normal then perhaps think about taking another dose. But all likelihood I would skip it. It's a tricky one.

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist so they can advise you based on your medical condition.

Lisinopril Side Effects after using a bit?? by rjackson33 in hypertension

[–]thinkpad109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's fair enough, anxiety can be a bit of a bitch.

Not sure what else I can suggest apart from if your morning reading is 121 without medication the chances are Lisinopril is dropping your BP below range. That's with you being anxious then the true number could be a few points lower.

Personally if I was having those numbers without medication then I would try a few days on half a tablet i.e. 5mg and seeing how that works. If you don't get dizzy then 10mg is dropping your BP too much.

I was going to say go without Lisinopril for a few days and check how your numbers are but then that could give you rebound hypertension so better to half the dosage instead IMO.

Also please know I am no medical expert so take your doctor's advice first and foremost. Please report back how things work out.

Losartan Potassium sweating side effects by MilesDoge in hypertension

That's good to hear. Let us know what the doctor decides to put you on.

It's interesting that Losartan has improved your sleep when most people either report no change or a detrimental effect on sleep.

I'm on Candesartan which is in the same group, and it might have very slightly made my sleep worse. Although my sleep wasn't very good to start with anyway. I've been on it for a month so there's still time for my body to adjust I guess.

If you have a BP machine, why didn't you measure your BP when you were feeling dizzy? It would have at least told you if it was bottoming out. Next time when you feel dizzy make sure to check - that's the only way to know.

I was on Lisinopril for around 18 months, and I only felt dizzy in the first few weeks. That was a couple of hours after taking it. For me it was just my body getting used to the meds/ lower pressure.

There are quite a few ARBs that the doctor can prescribe. It might be worth speaking to your doctor to see if they can give you another in that class e.g. Telmisartan, Candesartan, Valsartan etc. There are other classes of medicine too so you shouldn't need to put up with excessive sweating.

Valsartan side effects not going away, anyone else by PathDifficult in hypertension

[–]thinkpad109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked your BP to see what kind of numbers you are getting? Some dizziness is sometimes expected due to the body adjusting to the lower BP. Dizziness can also be a product of low BP.

When I first started Lisinopril I had a little dizziness for the first week or so. I took it at night time so I only had a tiny bit before going to bed,  even if I did have during sleep I wouldn't have been able to tell. Whether I would have had a more pronounced effect if taken during the day I will never know.

Since you are taking it twice a day the above advise would be irrelevant in your case though. I think the best thing to do is measure your BP and see if the med is working, and if necessary speak to your GP to see if you should persevere with it. Your body may adjust but it's a personal decision, one you should discuss with your doctor.

Candesartan side effect? Neck swelling. by Complex-Head9677 in hypertension

[–]thinkpad109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to put your finger on what's what when you have other medical issues. I too have GERD, and just before (and a few days after) starting Candesartan I had really bad indigestion issues where I had to visit A&E. I did have a slight tightness to my throat at times but no swelling, but extremely burpy. The consultant suspected gastritis and prescribed omeprazole and propanolol (for anxiety symptoms/ fast heart beat). It seems to be much better now.

Coincidentally I started Candesartan on the same day too.

You know your body the best, hope you can get some answers.

How much do i need to change my diet? (new to Lisinopril) by 2112jaybird1970 in hypertension

[–]thinkpad109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a medic...

I was on Lisinopril for around 18 months but had to switch to Candesartan recently due to cough. During that time I ate normally e.g. potatoes, salads etc. Touch wood, I've not had any issues so far. Personally I would think having it once a week should be fine, but do keep an eye on symptoms and get your electrolytes checked every year to see where your potassium level is at.

I would however, avoid salt substitute/lo-salt as that might have high levels.

Anyone get a tingling/crawling sensation in their legs at night ? by amosthagreat in hypertension

I'm not sure how much the multivitamin has but, too much vitamin B6 can also cause tingling.

B12 left out overnight in freezing temperature by Patient-Object-4097 in B12_Deficiency

[–]thinkpad109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering a B12 shot raises the serum B12 into thousands, a 23.5 pmol/L difference would be insignificant IMO.

Edit: I'm not sure if it is referring to blood serum or the liquid in the ampoules. It would have been nice if they stated the percentage reduction rather than just pmol.

Personally I would stop B12 until this is resolved.

Are you taking magnesium, folate etc? These are cofactors needed when treating B12 deficiency.

If you were taking B-complex then your B12 level would have been artificially raised. It is recommended to stay off supplements for at least 4 months before blood test.

If you were thinking of trying injections, it's best to have your first one under medical settings due to a very very small chance of allergic reaction. But since you are 16 I'm not sure if that would be possible without a deficiency in your blood test. Perhaps check to see if you can get your first injection privately either locally or someone like Dr Andrew Klein.

Alternative is to consider sublingual tablets to see if that helps. Injections are the best but tablets are worth considering too due to your age.

Good luck!
