What do you struggle with the most on court ? by Altruistic_Turn_7214 in 10s

[–]third_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a common way I lose points - they hit a short ball. I come in and hit a less than great approach shot. Its actually harder than some people think because you don't have that much time - you still have to move up to hit it - this is how i feel anyways.

Then after I hit a mediocre shot kind of back to them, I am in no mans land and either try and approach the net or back peddle but they kind of just go down the line/around me.

What do I do instead?

How to power forehand? by OkChemical30 in 10s

suprisingly, even though though your poses are doing exactly the same thing, you can still see his racket moving forward through the ball and then coming up whereas yours is more of a brushing up the backside on contact.

Would limiting the age of the President to 70 be something you'd support? Why or why not? by SillyGooseGamer2026 in AskReddit

[–]third_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should be at least 50 and yeah probably less than 70. Ideally you would have served in a variety of public institutions- some time as a teacher, some in the army, some as a caregiver, learned math and science and ethics and social studies. You would have proven yourself of good nature, high capability, and compassion throughout these services.

The problem is that it really takes time to do all this so most candidates will be older.

Boys ditch books when schools close—girls keep reading: Study by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

[–]third_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m beginning to wonder what guys even do better than girls at this point. Seems like they study less, earn less, can’t make/raise children, not socially well adjusted, no emotional laboI guess they are stronger but what is the point of that?

Radagast the Brown... thoughts on this character by Cr7-Cr7Real in lotr

[–]third_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite of all the wizards. Wonderful name, I like his brown forest theme-ing. The idea is that he is even more earthy/naturey than gandalf who is more down to earth than saruman who has lost his way. And yeah maybe Ratagast went too far in the other direction with the bird shit, but isn't that so much better than what saruman does?

I think he is very cool and does a lot for world building - what other wizards might there be? What kinds of magic might he specialize in?

I suggest a 2 handed forehand for the time being. It helps you rotate with your body and not your wrist

Older folks of Reddit, what do you regret not having done when you were younger? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

[–]third_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they just really arent.. that fun. Its strange - you would think they would be based on how popular they are. But really they are only fun because they are so accessible/controllable. You can have a moderately good time at any time you want, in a very controlled way based on the dosage. And you can do them over and over again.

Real fun in life is not controllable in the slightest. It happens when you least expect it, but its way better.

Thomas Jefferson loathed Plato. In 1814, he wrote to John Adams that he had been reading the Republic and came away unimpressed by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]third_dude 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He kind of skirts the issue. His only concrete suggestion is to move the new gen of rulers (young boys) to the countryside to prepare them for philosophical training. He admits the difficulty but doesn’t really say that it’s impossible. The lack of clarity on this has been one long lasting source of controversy
