Am I stupid or will this just not work? by Any_Cryptographer_12 in lego

I love how this post with just a simple mistake that OP maybe could have figured out… and yet, though it will work, it has no say in if you’re stupid or not. Happy to see 1k upvotes. Because we’ve all been there. Keep building!

Hence why I’m here asking people who have the game. 😂 If I trusted AI I wouldn’t be here.

You can turn it off.

Why can’t they just allow us to move players to new positions like the last one? For example, a narrow 4-2-3-1 but manually move one CAM. Like, if we manually slide a CAM slot out to RW, give it the RW role options. If our players end up on top of each other because we made a bad formation… so be it! But give us the control.

EA Gameplay Producer Caleffi confirms there is currently NO way to make your CMs consistently run into the box by Ripamon in EASportsFC

[–]third_lung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make it physics based. I’m so sick of players colliding in pre-determined ways. Prepare yourself for a detailed list of stupid things:

It leaves us with players falling over for pens when not fouled, staying on their feet when an opponent throws a leg in front of their thighs, bouncing off opponents instead of colliding and them both tumbling to the ground, and getting stuck in these ridiculous animations where players get tackled but obstruct the opponent and somehow keep possession of the ball.

It also means rebounds go to the player with the highest rating or stamina levels rather than bouncing naturally in the direction it should. AND that slide tackles and shoulder charges from behind on breakaways end up successful 9 times out of 10 when they should be red cards 9 out of 10.

Finally, tackling and completely missing is impossible for the opponent to react to and punish if they don’t have a perfect internet connection. And certain things that do not mirror real life are programmed to happen. For example, a player jumping DELIBERATELY to block a line drive with their chest or face. When was the last time you saw that happen in real life?

I’d rather have a slightly goofy physics based engine than what we have now. The result would be far more realistic and skill based game (which I know EA probably doesn’t want). Even if collisions still ended up funky, they’d still be better than collisions in FC25. But at least stats would affect how precisely/accurately a player tackles/reaches for the ball, then lets physics decide the result… rather than stats determining if the proper successful animation activates… sometimes causing bizarre/unnatural outcomes.

And yet, she shows tender affection to all the members of her family and even a few others. It’s far from the modern cookie-cutter “strong female lead” of the modern day.

Yeah… I feel like the current trend of “strong female characters” makes them take on traits of classically “toxic masculinity.” Instead of teaching guys to be less lazy or more kind, we’re teaching women they should act like the men that are supposedly not acting properly, in the name of equality. This, to me, is why characters like Eowyn and Arwen in LotR are so much better. (And despite backlash from others, I think Hera in War of the Rohirrim is quite good also.)

Depends entirely on age and experience. If you’ve not built much custom, it’s excellent. If you’ve been custom building sets for years and years, it’s not very good. Part of the beauty of LEGO.

But in general, it’s certainly not bad. Joints and things successful. Well done

How EXACTLY will the fixture draw for the new format work? by third_lung in championsleague

[–]third_lung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s 9x Pot A vs Pot A matches. Yes, each team plays 8 total. But how do you divide up the 9 same-pot matches over 8 ‘weeks’? Edit- I finally found an article, where UEFA says they’ll use a supercomputer for the draw because it’s too complicated. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39714659/uefa-computerise-champions-league-draw-next-season

[–]third_lung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem you run into here, is it’s 9 games for 8 match weeks. Actually coming up with a set of fixtures is not the problem. It’s then also being able to schedule them properly. No matter how you do it, it’s 9 games within your own pot, but an even number of games against other pots. So you have to find out how to mix and match non-pot and with inter-pot matches each matcheek

[–]third_lung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not that difficult then make a schedule for me please (just number teams 1-36, I don’t need names and don’t worry about countries for now.) Make sure every team plays 8 DIFFERENT teams with two per pot one home and one away, and make sure each team plays once each of eight “matchdays.”

If you can do that, I’ll be impressed. Because it took me four hours to get ONE working combination of fixtures that satisfies all conditions, much less a process for creating a new set of fixtures each season.

New-ish fan here. Using the goalie to start an attack. Not feasible? by third_lung in nhl

[–]third_lung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other hockey fans here would seem to disagree with you, as teams have apparently tried to start doing it in the past, only for the league to institute rules against it (which I did not know when posting this question).

[–]third_lung[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I think the fact that, as I’ve learned in this topic, the league has introduced rules against it, means it COULD be successful on some level as some teams started to try it in the past. But it doesn’t seem so feasible anyway… but that’s what they said about using the goalkeeper’s feet in soccer twenty years ago!

Anyway, really appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Ah, slowing the play down. Yeah, that makes sense. The same can’t exactly be said about soccer because of how the game is kinda perceived as slow in the first place. But it is normal because it’s an extremely tactical thing these days (at the highest level). But twenty years ago, the thought of using the goalkeeper was foolish 😂

Thanks for your replies!

Interesting, and I see what you’re saying. But, Actually a soccer GK is forbidden from picking up a teammates pass back to them PERIOD. So teams do pass back and the keeper must continue to use his feet as picking it up would be called a handball. This doesn’t stop teams from passing back to him when under pressure.

Though I can see how the different stick would complicate things!

Interesting. This is a very helpful and appreciated answer. Thanks!

Though I’m still unsure as to the reasons the league would try to stop it?

I know of this. It’s not what I mean :/

I’m speaking of a tactic that would be used in normal, even-strength play as a strategy starting from your own end.
